Best 8 hour refresh strategy?

Unknown
edited February 2015 in MPQ Tips and Guides
Now that they are using 8 hr. refresh on pve, what is the best strategy. Play each match once, wait 8 hours then play again, and then right before that level ends play as much as you can?

Also, yesterday I played each match once, it said I had 8 hours to go before max points, but when I checked 9 hours later it said there was like 1.5 hours to go?!?!? In that situation should I still wait until it completely refreshes or is it ok to go ahead and play before then?

Thanks!

Optimal play: hit every node each time the refresh bar maxes. Right before the sub ends, grind every node until they are worth 1 point.

Realistically optimal play: hit every node pretty close to when the refresh bar maxes. If it'll max when you sleep, do one more clear before bed. Grind as much as possible in the last 90 minutes of each sub.

I think that the situation you're describing is the result of rubber-banding adding points to the node though I could be wrong. In that situation I'd wait for one of your highest point nodes to get to the new max points and then run all your nodes (that should all be close to full) in order from highest points down to take full advantage of rubber-banding as it dissipates.
  • When the timer seems wrong in the events, close the app and re-open it. That usually resets the counter to the proper time. On the iPhone at least.

    Rubber-banding doesn't move timers.

I'm first in my main and this is how I've been doing it:
    1. Open subs
    2. Clear hard sub. Do highest essential then lowest. Then rest in order.
    3. Do above for easy sub.
    4. At refresh clear hard sub from highest point node to lowest.
    5. Do above for easy sub
    6. At 2 hours to end of subs clear hard sub nodes for one hour always doing the highest value node at the time.
    7. At 1 hour to end do the same with the easy sub.
    8. As needed switch back to the hard sub to clear nodes and maintain t2
  • Both strategies listed earlier are good for 24+ hour subs. What is the recommended strategy next time we have 12 hour subs again?

This last event I'm trying to do one clear, waiting the 8, then clearing all again. Then last 4 hours do a clear every hour. Last hour clear as many times as I can. This has only yielded me t30, so is there a better way?
  • When it comes to the end of a sub, it's far better to clear more nodes total in a non-optimal way compared to clearing less nodes optimally. And if you have to worry about depleting node value to 1 point you got a first world problem though it should be obvious that was going to happen as you start clearing. You don't just accidentally clear something 6 times without noticing you've plenty of time left.

Heh, I had this problem of having 1.5 hours left on the timer for a node I hadn't even done yet! I even backed out to see if I'd made a mistake but there was no 'yellow circled arrow' for retrying the mission. So their must have been some issue in place for timers.

So at 2. when you say clear hard sub do you clear a node all the way down then on to the next node? Then you wait for the completed node to refresh completely?

Nope. Never clear all the stacks in a node until the final grind down.

Exactly. A clear is when you hit every node once. A grind is when you clear them multiple times until you hit 1 or as low as you can go.

    **Edit to add**
The times listed in steps 6 and 7 are not set in stone. Each node in PVE has 6 stacks. That is, you clear it 6 times from full points to get it to 0. The time you give yourself for the final grind should be equal to about how long it took you to do your first clear x6 depending on how you plan to play it. If you full boost nodes that are scaled up high to clear them you may finish faster. For the last PVE with 12hr subs I found that 2 hours was just about right in most cases, but those nodes were not full for the final grind.
  • Thanks. I'd been wondering about this. I had been clearing throughout the day and grinding them down to 1 xp at the end and still ending up ranked about 40th. Now I know what I was doing wrong. Does anyone know the mechanics of this? Is the xp gain a percentage of the current available xp?
