A question and a complaint about PVE rewards

First, the question. How is it decided when alliances get rewards for sub-events? Last PVE we did not have them, this one we do. Just seems arbitrary.

Second, the complaint. I just completed the first sub-event and I cleared all but one progression reward. And there's 3 days left on this event. Last event I cleared all progressions with 2 days left as well. Makes the grind tedious when you know there are no rewards to play for but the final ones, which you may still get edged out of.

  • Last PvE was very very old. TaT was one of the first ever stories released. They just haven't gone in and changed the subs for alliance rewards. Grocket is new, thus has alliance reward subs.

    As to your complaint: Don't ask for higher point total progression rewards or you may be rewarded with higher point total progression rewards. Take your "free" Grocket blue cover and be happy. PvE progression are designed currently to be achievable by almost everyone reguardless of essential nodes or roster diversity. Don't take the covers out of the hands of transitioners just because you are bored.

    Would it be nice if there were unlimited progression rewards at arbitrary intervals (like 1000 iso every 20,000 points or something), sure. But do not, under any circumstances, change the existing reward structure in any way. Just add on top of it.

    if your in a top 50 league you will have to grind after you reach the final goal. Most the times its 2x the final goal total your going to need Or at least 150% of the highest item to make a top 50 team

    It would even be nice if they did not want to give out post award items but how about every 5k over the top reward you get a token entry into a 4 star cover or something like that.

    First of all I never suggested changing it. They could tack some ISO on after the cover. My point was I could grind for a week and miss out on top 5 or 10 or whatever I'm going for and it would be the same as if I quit once I got the last progression reward. Thanks for answering my question.

    Dev response to this very question/solution in the December Q&A:

    Moore"]Q: Can we get some sort of superficial rewards beyond the max progression reward? 200 Iso every 5k beyond the max progression reward?
      A: No plans for this. We want to make sure it’s possible (if challenging) for completionists to get every checkmark.

    They could always change their mind, but I think it's unlikely right now.

    Max progression is set where it is so players without the essential character(s) can actually achieve them

    There was a time when top progression rewards were so high that it was almost mathematically impossible to reach them and only the most grindy of grinders got to them. These last couple events have seemed low, but I'd prefer that to not getting to them at all.

    As a point of reference, in the past couple months I've had a several PVE events where I either just barely got or just barely missed all the progression awards. In all of those events (except one where I was gifted a really easy bracket and one where I was in a pretty brutal bracket), doing so put me in the lower end of the 2-star rewards. That seems to be right about where it should be(at least, in my opinion) with the progression 3-star being accessible to transitioning 2-star players without the essential character(s). I'll admit, my "evidence" here is strictly anecdotal...

    That said, I definitely like the idea of some awards beyond the current progression ones...even if it just meant you got something higher than the minimum 20 iso8.png (like, 50 iso8.png , for instance) for your nodes after you completed the progression. That would at least provide some additional reward without necessarily adding to the progression system.
  • #1) Progression awards should be attainable for all. Agree with others who have written that the thresholds shouldn't go higher just so that we complete them deeper in the PvE.

    #2) Grinders should have something to accumulate once they have hit the final progression.

    Introducing... The DEADPOOL (concept).

    Once a player attains the final progression in a PvE, Deadpool (character) begins collecting their points. Once the DEADPOOL contains enough points, the player can redeem for a reward. Suggestions / Ideas for redemption:

    - Four Star featured character (1 cover)
    - Heroic Ten pack / Forty pack (I can dream right?)
    - Tokens from the PvE
    - Featured Three Star character (1 cover of each colour)

    The points could also leave the DEADPOOL at the end of every season, so players can't hoard them and game the proposed redemption system.
    Deadpool could says different things as someone adds to the DEADPOOL if the devs wanted to be fun that way.

    Take it, change it, modify however you wish Devs. Another character you could use would be the Collector if you don't want to overuse Deadpool.

    Thanks for reading! Too lazy to do a TL:DR icon_e_smile.gif

    Since changing the way the progression board works is probably a lot of effort, I'd be happy if they just upped the default node award. How 'bout a standard token instead of 20 ISO?
  • i don't like how each reward level doesn't always increase..

    for example: Meet Rocket and Groot
    500pt = 100iso
    2500pt = 250iso
    3500pt = 250iso AGAIN.
    5000pt = 250iso AGAIN!
    8000pt = 500iso ok a little better
    12,000pt = 1000iso ok good.
    16,000pt = 500iso ****?

    I think each higher progression point should award MORE than the last one and certainly NOT have the highest iso reward as much as the middle reward.
  • If they switched the 2 around you'd still be getting the same amount of iso. It does help mid-tier players who can't get to that final iso reward.
    The big reward is the 3* cover anyways. The mild amount of iso you get before that is just a sort of encouragement to say "you're almost there, don't stop now!"
