Does mmr persist across tournaments?

So i just entered the ares round 2 tournament, and all of my opponents have extremely weak teams, implying that my mmr has been reset to the base level. How has mmr worked in the past across tournaments? My impression was always that it persisted across them, but not im not sure... I had 2.4k points during round 1, for reference

    Normally yes. Though I suspect with some of the recent changes, that's changed a bit. I've fought so many weak teams during this tournament, it just couldn't be true anymore.

    Yeah, i guess i dont need to tank anymore, which is a plus.

    Do you think that has something to do with losing MMR while shielded?

    Mmr rating probably reset at each tournament now. I fight seed teams below 200 rating. Then New players then average one, then really top ones. Look like I can't make 1200 this time round with my 2 stars team. I miss the black punisher,haha.

    if that's true, it'll probably make lighting rounds even more miserable for mid-range players
