Abilities with effects while a timer is out

So I was thinking about all of the new characters that have abilities that rely on active countdown timers to trigger a special effect (Colossus, Mistique, Star-Lord) and was wondering why they don't make those abilites similar to invisibility on Invisible Woman.

Of all the things that are wrong with IW (and there are many) the one thing that is right is that her invisibility is triggered by a "special" tile and not a countdown. She was the first and only of this kind and the devs seem to have forgoten about this feature.

Having these new abilites trigger with a special tile would be beneficial primarily because it wouldn't be adversly affected by abilites that change countdown tiles (Anti-G device, Intimidation) and would be a slight buff since the tile wouldn't expire. A change like this might make Colossus, Mistique and S-L much more viable.

While this seems like a good idea on the surface I'd be willing to bet the devs regret making IW work the way she does. That one outlier ability has to make testing new things SOO much more complicated than if she just used a countdown instead. In fact, whenever they do get around to redesigning her I wouldn't be at all surprised if they changed her to use a countdown tile instead of her own special case tile.
  • I'm not sure it would change anything. Her special tile is basically just an infinite Countdown tile, so the coding should be the same (check for tile, execute affect if so). Unless the devs coded it weirdly, I think the idea to move to special tiles for abilities like this would be great.

I believe its her Force Bubbles that cause the game weirdness -- they lock a tile and remove effects, but every time they add a new character with new ability mechanics, they need to check that a Force Bubble will properly affect it.

The force bubbles are definitely the cause of other problems, no argument there. But I have a strong suspicion that the invis tile is hardly innocent. Why have they never implemented another ability like that?
