Any chance at a "top 5 honorable mention" cover, D3? :D

Yes, #6 is me, and this is how I feel:dkffiv wrote:Thick as Thieves Shard 4 was a battle.

Just kidding -- I knew from the beginning I didn't likely have a shot at top 5 given the way others were scoring in my bracket, but thought I'd give it a try.
However, I do feel like this highlights the ridiculousness of the competitive aspect of PvE. I joined a fresh bracket, and was 80-something to join. I hit every refresh, including triple clears before sleeping, and cleared the nodes as many times as possible before the end of each sub. And I was STILL 2400 points short of top five! (Though I did beat bonfire in our alliance this time, which is tough to do.)
So the moral of the story is: you can play as much as possible in the most optimal way, and still lose out on placement due to bracketing luck -- even when you're in the first 10% to join the bracket. The only sure way to guarantee it is to do all of that, PLUS forgo sleep. (Right dkffiv, Williamk99, Bubbleboy1977, Sc0ville, and Kiddicarus? How else was that possible?)
It's just plain disheartening that events are structured in a way that allows this -- the only reason I didn't get a cover was because 5 other people in my bracket were more crazy than me. In any other bracket, I would have gotten top 5 (or even first place) with my score. Not to mention the event itself sucks the life out of you when you have to play it every 3 hours for a week. Having 8 hour refreshes will greatly improve things, but I have a feeling it's going to make the luck aspect of bracketing even more of a factor for winning covers. Ah, well...I'm sure I'm not the first it's happened to.

Oh man, I've tried to go toe-to-toe with Kiddicarus before. The person doesn't sleep or the account has people around the world that play in intervals. And if he was 5th, you got a heck of a bracket...0

I noticed a lot of double grind downs before going to sleep (6 hour rotations), was trying to track point patterns. A lot of it came down to how effectively you grinded down the nodes the last 2 hours. I joined at around 250 the first sub so Williamk had a full rotation on me, it took 3 subs to catch him.
I left 1k+ points on the table each of the first 3 sub clears (first sub I wasn't sure how many was a full grind down, second took longer than I thought, third I got **** 'ed driving home from a super bowl party so I ran out of time). On the final sub I managed to clear every node 6 times within 2 hours so that's where I finally took the lead.0 -
This is one of the reasons that the way the prizes were distributed originally during the Hulk events (one massive bracket) was my favorite, and I wish they used it more.0

I ended 17th in your bracket John. Started at 996. Needed another week to catch up to everyone.0

John that was a bit scary for me. I was firmly in 5th with a 5kish lead going into the final hours of the event but I saw you creeping up on me. I was half hoping that after a miserable week I'd be able to take the last clear easy, but you kept me honest and made me throw in a bunch of clears at the end.
Despite what you may think, I did sleep during the event but instead of the triple clears, I only did double clears (I need less uninterrupted sleep than you do apparently ).
That shard was ridiculous though and I hope to never face that stiff of competition again, you guys have effectively scared me off from every queuing up shard 4 again, I'm going to toy around with 1-3 and see if I can find a less cutthroat home.0 -

Big ups to dkffiv in placing number 1 again in PVE consistently and also putting up beast points in PVP.0 -
It was a really fun race, I may have finished second but I kept on getting pushed by everyone to score higher than I could have imagined prior to the start of this event. Hats off to dkffiv, he earned 1st!0

Talk about luck.. Finished 11th 1k behind top 10 after grinding like a madman.. This game sometimes feels so unfair..0 -
I suppose feeling left out is all relative, cause this was how I felt trying to stay top 50.
For both this PVE and 4hor, I finished 52 after putting in a ****-ton of work fighting to try and stay top 50.
I was like rank 46-ish up until the final 5 minutes.
There was really nothing more I could do. It was PVP bad, where I would finish a match and actually lose ranking somehow.
How the hell is that PV(Environment) in any way shape or form?
At least 3 hour refresh is gone, but if 4 star releases stay top 50 (as opposed to even top 100, or wishful thinking top 150)), that won't matter much.
Same goes for scaling based on roster strength, however that is determined.
- highest character level?
- total number of max 3 star characters?
- total levels of all characters combined who knows anymore).
t makes me not want to level anyone at all. My nodes quickly because 300+. Good luck against a Level 395 Hood & Magneto.
I don't have the 4 stars to compete for real in PVP either. I am very squarely stuck in the purgatory that is 3 to 4 star land.
At least there is SOME type of progression from 2 to 3, even if slow. There is none at all for 3 to 4 other than P2W to buy covers outright, but you have to actually get the first one to even to that.
I don't understand how people are able to grind that much to get a top 5 result.
The only good news about it all is this PVE rewards Daredevil. The only thing useful is the Blue Rocket & Groot from progression.0
