I love the 8 hour refresh. It lets me work & sleep without setting alarms to try for top 50. The only way to make me happier would be to bump it to 12 hours. Play a clear. Pvp for a few. Do something else. Come back later. IT'S BLISS.

MPQ's new motto: Play less so you can play more.

In general I am not a fan of games that don't want you to play them. Seems lately all MPQ updates have been designed to let player play less. Shield cooldowns, new 8h refresh, all the way back to True Healing, all limit your ability to play the game the way you might want. I am a fan of the 8h cooldowns, but it's awkward when a game tells me to go away and don't play me for 8 hours.

really though its boring as hell waiting those 8 hours for the game to reset, hate to break it to you but making people leave since they cant play for 8 hours means they could be looking for other stuff to do, meaning they could find a better game and not come back.

Hopefully this is fix with the daily PVES if they are really coming

I am a two - three star transition player. I joined in September. With 3 hr refreshes I top 10 / top 5 every PvE. I work a steady job, and have other priorities outside of this game. I got a fair nights sleep to accomplish this. Due to PvE's refresh being so low, and the difficulty of PvP, I too had a hard time getting there.

However, I was still able to top 100 some PvP's. There is strategies you can employ if you are willing to look for them. You are welcome to opine, and be upset that they changed the timers on you, and now you "have nothing to do". I don't know what time zone you are in either. However, my day today looks like this:

Top 15 PvE (Rocket &Groot)
Top 100 PvP for Modern Storm
3 to 4 Lightning Rounds played (ISO + one top 100 - 1 Heroic.. I'm going to go play the Hulk one once I'm done typing)

This was so much better overall. I got to grow my ISO. I got to play with some buffed characters in both PvP and LR that I haven't played with before. Etc, etc.

I am not in a Top 100 Alliance either. I recently Merced for one though.

I'm sorry you feel you can only compete in PvE. However, don't get discouraged. Read some of the guides. Talk to the players on here. I hope you will find that having 8hr PvE timers will allow you to play other aspects of the game. Will they be cakewalks ? NO

Are they supposed to be when we haven't been playing for even a year, and slightly less (43% according to MPQ statistics) have been?

As for whats on my roster, I have plenty of max 2 stars, and I have been soft capping my 3 stars at 104. I have Falcon, Hulk, Steve, and Blade as my "high level" three stars.

8 hours refresh time is probably THE BEST change they did in maybe half a year (with time slices).
It wont hurt noone.

In fact, this prevent veteran players from burnout.

If they didnt make this change, I was about to quit this game.
I still need to get up 30 minutes earlier in the morning to make pve sweep,
but because of this change, daily gaming time drops from 5 - 6 hours a day to maybe 2 hours.

This isn't a vets vs. newbs thing; it's a people with flexible vs. fixed schedules thing. This helps people with fixed schedules, taking a little of the massive advantage people with flexible ones have. The people with flexible schedules still have a huge advantage, though.

Picked a noon start time, lunchtime was delayed by 2 hours so i didn't do my first clear until 2 pm. This put my refresh at 10 pm. Waiting for that 10pm refresh to get optimal points... I fell asleep
Wake up a whole refresh behind already, and you know what... no real desire to even do the morning clear. It's now 9:22 am for me, and I still have no desire to do the clear because I already know by missing that whole refresh of the 8 hours, I'm too far behind to catch up. Absolutely no motivation for me to even try.
I feel bad, because I really want to enjoy the game, but I literally feel like the joy was sucked out of the game the minute I finished my first clear and was staring at an 8 hour refresh timer. This is not a debate, this is simply the way this change has made me feel. I follow the forums to see if changes are in the pipe, hopefully daily PVE isn't just a rumor... but as long as these refreshes are at 8 hour... I have no desire to play.

It's a shame because I really did like this game. This isn't a rage quit, I feel no rage... it's a bored to death quit. More like a bored to death break from the game.

What placement are you aiming for? Yes, obviously falling asleep sucks, as does missing a refresh. It does put you behind temporarily. (Let's not discuss the case where you feel asleep with three hour refreshes... I'm sure you wouldn't have been bored, which would have kept you up, etc...)

Honestly though, you can still place well. This is the first sub. The points per node go up in the next two subs. You seem to enjoy grinding. Plenty of people won't be able to make the push needed in the final hours. If you picked a slice that benefits your schedule, you can make up lost time there.

If you've lost the fire, or the will though, there's very little to be done about that. As some people have said, this truly is a case of less is more. I do agree 100% that the game needs more content. I'm excited for a daily PvE if it occurs. But now I can play lightning rounds. I can try to increase my score in PvP and make myself more attractive as a Merc to high level alliances. All because I don't have to but all of my gaming time into PvE.

5PM. Get home from work Do a PVE clear
6PM Eat dinner.
7PM Play PVP.
8PM: Nothing to do in MPQ. Exit game.

11PM: Early PVE clear, then bed.

I found this change to be "people who like to play a lot" vs "people who only want to play 2-3 times a day"

I'm hoping on some other 'new liquid' to enter the game. Otherwise, it's no longer worth the time.

it is very complex problem. For 8 hrs fresh welcome good sleep

for 3 hrs fresh the lead advantage is just so little and everybody can have hope to get top 1 2 but 8hr refresh you gotten have very very very bad crazy health pack spending for last hours grinding and dont miss any play times as you will be drop out of top 50.

the change is just 50/50

hmmmm...upon second glance the words are different, yes. Reads the same - which is why I assumed a copy/paste job, so that one is my bad.

It sounds like you are needing another game, what's wrong with having more than one game on the go? I've had the opposite problem for months, don't have the time to get into another game becuase it's PvE clear time again, or need to PvP climb and shield. Was taking up a lot of time for a match 3 game. Found on weekends with new charecter releases when the allaince was going for covers even if I wasnt' and was just chipping in the PvE certainly got in the way of real life. A different balance may be needed but for the time being I think some are enjoying the break which gives the oppertunity to enjoy playing again, instead of having to play.

D3 had posted a graph showing the spread of points the last time they did an 8 hour timer.

There was no plateau at the top.

Meaning, even with longer refreshes, there will not be very many optimal grinders.

I hear you. I'm glad that many people are able to still enjoy the game.
I really only like to play one game at a time because it is a distraction and its easier to manage one addiction over multiple addictions, and I'm very picky about what games I play and enjoy playing. I played one before this one, was frustrated with lots of errors every event and changes that sucked the joy out of the game. I tried this one because other people that played the other game recommended this one and I tried it, and loved it.

Oddly enough it feels more intrusive on my life with the 8 hour than the 3 hour refreshes. I guess I felt like I had more control over the game, my play time, and my ranking than I do now. If I cleared early, it wasn't bad, worst case scenario was 6 hour wait to clear for full points again. If I missed an entire afternoon on the weekend because of a project, I could still make up the points with a few more clears over the rest of the evening and before bed.

I know people are crunching numbers and saying its not a big loss of points to play sub-optimally, etc, but for me, it's how the game makes me feel. That's what important isn't it? That's why some people love the 8 hour refresh, because they feel relief. They were previously playing at a pace they didn't enjoy (but played at that pace anyway), and now that stress is off of them. In my case, I was actually playing stress-free... and now playing 8 hour refreshes just feels more stressful to me.

I will take a break at trying to place in any particular tier, I may simply shoot for the progression rewards. I will see how the points are affected by playing whenever I have the time regardless of the timer and see how that effects my points, progression, and placement. I will consider this my test episode, and make further judgement after that.

If I don't find it to be worth it anymore, I'll be checking out other games to see if there is one that better suits my play style now that this one doesn't. I do hope they come out with daily PVE soon though, that holds out a ray of hope for keeping the game lively for me.

I know you are all tired of my griping about 8 hour refreshes, so I will no longer post unsolicited comments about my feelings for it. I'll answer direct questions or inferences to me to defend my feelings and the validity of them as I would expect anyone would do.

I don't think there's a fatigue directly associated with you, but there is a general fatigue towards "whining" on the forum. Expressing a dislike with a reason why isn't whining though IMO.

You aren't the only one who has expressed concern regarding where you finish in the ranking on an 8 hour refresh, and you can bet your bottom dollar there's some spreadhseets out there with optimal times to grind / refresh and exhuast a node or sub. There's some mad math that comes out of some people in this game that's well beyond factoring polynomials, or whatever it is the kids do these days in school.
