Drop A.Wolvie or bad 3*?

Early 2->3 transition here. Have a fully leveled 2* team w/ Ares, OBW, DADaken, MNMags, cStorm, MNThor, and AWolv. Recently I pulled a couple of Patch covers to make him take over in sustained pushes from AWolv. Now, I need to open up a space, and I was wondering if I should drop AWolv or a bad 3* (the one I have in mind is a single covered She-Hulk, but also 4-cover Beast, 3-cover Squirrel Girl, etc.). I know one is a 3*, the other is getting out-powered by Patch, but at least AWolv can be useful in situations whereas She-Hulk is completely useless right now. Thoughts?

Along the same lines, LThor would be able to take over soon from MNThor (looking at that pve progression reward). Is MNThor worth keeping around?

Personally I am a proponent of never selling anyone, but if you have to I suppose She-Hulk is the best choice since she is vaulted at the moment. If you have useable two-stars there's no reason to lose them.

I agree. A 1 cover 3* is a lot easier to toss. Especially at the rate that you would be able to cover her. I actually like using She Hulk though. If you are using all your 2*s on a regular basis, tossing one might have a bigger effect on you now, that might hamper your ability to get more 3* covers, if you are using them in PVP and PVE. In the long run, you don't want to toss 3* that you would actually use. Beast is currently vaulted, so I would be hesitant to toss out a 4 cover 3* who might be getting a buff.

A 1 cover LThor would be hard to justify replacing a fully leveled, covered 2* Thor in the short term, but in the long term, LThor is a lot more useful than 2* Thor, similar to how LCap blows 2* Cap out of the water. 2* Thor isn't that bad though, and is still useful at his high HP, and high damage for a 2*. Getting LThor covered might be tough, unless you are getting some covers in the Blade PVP that is running now. Since he has been a reward for the last PVE and current PVP, might be a while before you see him in the reward rotation again.

AWolv can carry you when he's boosted in PvE. Worth keeping for that reason.
  • I like A.Wolveie to pair up with Daken on early pvp to not care about packs. Can safely push to 300ish with no demage to the real 2* teams for higher pushes (Mags MN + cStorm and Ares + OBW). If they end up with low HP I just go to a prologue fight and heal them up as much as I can. And no need to worry about joining a fight with Wolvie at 50% as you can tank a couple hits to heal again.

This. I don't think I'll ever get rid of AWolv, simply because there's virtually nothing that eats up low tier teams faster than he and 2Daken.
  • Thanks for all the feedback. Let me clarify it a little more. I just got 8th and 9th cover for Patch last week, including 5th yellow and leveled him to 106. So now I find Patch can (almost) completely replace AWolv in sustained PVP pushes (well, as big of a push as I can get before hitting the 270 wall at around 400). Where I miss AWolv is his quick green, but Patch's true healing is SOOO much better. Does that change any of your love for AWolv?

I also have 8 covers on LThor and am eyeing that yellow pve progression reward as 9th. I will probably level him to around the same level as Patch and play around to see if he can replace MNThor. That's not guaranteed as he''ll only be 4/2/3 and LThor and Patch don't play well together.

Lastly, I'm a little hesitant to sell a 3* cause last year (before I took a 6 month break from playing), I sold a bunch of Loki, Doom, and Rags covers only to come back and find Loki and Doom insanely useful with the recent changes, and Rags might if he gets that 3rd skill. I know She-Hulk is vaulted right now. Does anyone know if they are planning on buffing her while she's in there?

OK, that is a completely different story. The only times you will miss 2* Thor or wolverine is when they're buffed in pve or heroics. According to Jan q&a, they did mention shehulk was one they thought needed rebalancing. In light of your new info, if you don't mind missing out on Thor or wolverine when they are featured in pves, I would definitely replace both before any 3*. The ability to rebuild them is a lot easier than gaining 3* covers. Hard to say goodbye to fully leveled 2*, iso and cover investment, but it is the right thing to do long-term.

And even though patch and lthor aren't a great PvP combo, when you get more covers and can level them higher, you will get to the point where 2* teams skip you based on their levels, HP and possible damage. I can tell from personal experience, that I got attacked last PvP by 2* teams. I was running a lvl 124 5/4/4 Hulk and 5/3/3 Patch. The Blade PVP, my level 128s didn't see any 2* attacks. Could be a coincidence, but I hope not.

Not having rainbow coverage and not playing well together are pretty different things.

Thor's Green is a team-buster but it's not the premier green in the 3 star tier. Patch's is one of great significance, however.
Thor's Red fuels his yellow, which fuels Patch's Green. They definitely have synergy.

One thing to remember about vaulted characters is that when they come back into rotation they will be a PvE/PvP reward, particularly if they have been redesigned. You'll have plenty of chances to get She-Hulk covers then, so the big question is if the advantage the extra cover you have now may give later is worth a roster spot now.
It's also worth considering that a 3* around level 100 with insufficient covers is likely weaker than a maxed 2% character. You should definitely level Patch and Thor up, but you may find that in the short run you'll have more use for their 2* incarnation. You didn't mention the cover configuration for Patch, but with 4 covers spread between green and red I imagine he is mostly a flesh wall, taking hits and healing up.
  • Thank you all for some great pointers. Indeed Patch is badly covered at 1/3/5, and I leveled him to 106 to tank for Ares and, in fewer colors, MNThor just so TBTI can actually do something, anything (ugh). As a meat shield, he works wonders, but he is slow and weak with 1 green. I know it'll be a while yet before my Patch and LThor can completely outclass their 2* counterparts, but right now, at least Patch is serviceable for PVP pushes, but that's still not enough to get me into T100. I guess I'll just continue to grind PVE for slow cover gains and pray to the gods of random number generator on token pulls. Grind on...

    Thanks again.
