What the 2* -> 3* Transition Actually Means

I've been thinking about this transition stage and finally came to this conclusion last night:

You need to do the 2* -> 4* transition first to get the 2* -> 3* transition completed...

Does that make sense? I just personally feel like the game is pushing me into leveling up my 4* rather than working on my 3* in order to survive competitively. This really sucks cause the 3* characters actually look like they could be fun! If only they were playable icon_e_sad.gif

  • I agree.

    Since purchasing 4thor, 3* have become obtainable and PVE/PVP much more enjoyable. Sadly.
  • I am with you switchman. Purchased up my 4thor and being able to compete in pvp made the game way more fun. this way I get at least 2 to 3 3* covers every three days. it has made the progression of the game satisfying finally. Sad that I had to pay for it though. That being said I do try to play a variety of 3*'s once I have them covered which is pretty fun. I just switch to 4thor when the competition starts having maxed xforces.

    I came to this conclusion a couple months back as well, and have been preaching it here. I had evenly leveled many 3*'s to 127 - in part because I'm missing covers for several of the good ones (Thor, Patch, Daken - not helpful some of the best are vaulted....). But what can 3*'s do? I dumped ISO into X-force to 217, and now match-ups become easier and counters/retals become fewer.

    Why "waste" HP/ISO on 3*'s that are going to be worthless against the 4* army that is out there? Save and buy 4* covers, level them up quickly. The 4*'s will get you a fully covered 3* army to....sit there for use as featured character or essentials, I guess. It's also the only way to grow your 4* army, it appears.

    And the only way to do that might be as the previous couple mentioned - pay for it. I know at least one in our alliance "bought" their 4hor, and I have been really tempted. If they dump seed teams I won't need to waste my money though, since I wouldn't be able to get the ISO needed to level her.
  • I feel the same way. The only pvp competitive 3*s were vaulted and only starting to come back, only to take more than a month to be rewarded again, assuming it's not just 1 useful cover out of 3 like hood.

    With the large number of 3*s, the rotations have put Nick Fury more available to me than any usable 3*s.

    You can rank in PVE with 2*s, so why bother getting any of the recent 3*s, if they don't help you beat pve or pvp.
  • and to me from what you guys are saying 4* pvp should have its own bracket so 3* roster can be used more in reg pvp i should not have to force feed a lvl 4* just to compete that should be my 3* doing that

    My fear is that the star.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.png characters are becoming to many in number and are not representing the actual power/rarity that I feel would be becoming of such characters. To equivalate this to M:tG, it makes sense that:
    star.png = common
    star.pngstar.png = uncommon
    star.pngstar.pngstar.png = rare
    star.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.png = mythical

    I just have a problem with the amount of different star.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.png characters available.

    Do you have any idea how many Mythics there are in Magic? Its not the number of different ones that makes it rare, its the availability of the card/cover itself that makes it so.
