Upcoming Versus Matchmaking Test

Pretty much identical experience here, same time slice too. I was getting level 30 teams up to around 300 before the heavyweights come out, and that didn't seem remotely fair to those guys.
I didn't like that either. I don't want to be having total newbie teams lined up. People with 1* teams have barely figured out how the game works yet, they don't need to be discouraged from playing by being squished like bugs.0 -
Gaaaaaah...
I'm pretty sure this is not how it's supposed to be...
I'm usually 800-ish. Right now I'm sitting at 925 in Cat-5.
1st page of roster is XF 270, Cap 166, CMags 166, Hood 166, Pun 166.
ALL MY MATCHES ARE SUB-10 POINTS. Some of the nodes keep cycling through the same 3 or 4 matchups for a dismal 3-10 points per match... what am I supposed to do with that?? Every once in awhile I'll see a 17-pointer.
Right now I see a 3-point matchup against a Storm 113, LThor 166, XF 270. Skip. 13-points for Storm 218, XF 270, LCap 105. Skip. 3 points for Storm 110, GSBW 166, XF 246. Skip. Back to the 13-pointer I just skipped. This is madness. I WANT MY ISO BACK!!!
Ok, I'm done ranting. Please please please tell me I have a shot at winning the 4Thor that I'm sooooo hung up on. Just 75 more points... Pllllleeeeaassseee.... 25 hours to go.0 -
Ok something is nuts about the new matchmaking. I literally went from 3 seed teams to maxed 94s, up to ~100 pts, and now, at 198 pts (Rank 339) I've hit the 166 wall. All three nodes are maxed or near maxed 3*.
...Except of course for the 270's below.
My highest lvl characters are (soft-capped) 3* Storm & Spidey @ 99. Ares, Thor, Mags, OBW, Ms. Marvel, Torch, 2* storm, A. Wolv, Daken @ 94
Edit: Forgot to mention, the 3* matches are all worth between 15-18 pts.0 -
I have got two 166 guys and the rest 133. Before this change I was hitting 166 wall at 550-600 points. For Cat 5 I have hit a wall of maxed XWolv and LThor at 500 points.
So yeah, not so much fun. I like a challenge but c'mon0 -

I'm having the same problem, though not quite so bad. I've crossed the 800 barrier and am looking for anyone to fight, but there isn't much worth queuing up. Nothing over 24 points. My roster isn't anything special. For this my front page is 190 X-Force, 166 Hood, 166 Hulk, 166 Thor and 153 Patch.
I can definitely take down the max teams when boosting....but I don't really want to do that for 20 measly points. Going to have to wait and watch the leaderboard and hope some people eventually drop shield so that I can at least target them.0 -
I'm seeing maxed out 3 stars and high level 4 stars at 400 points. I started to see them Before I hit 400. The fights do have some higher point values but if this is the way it's going to be, I'll probably move onto another game. I stopped with MPQ last summer because I was sick of getting maxed out teams once I joined an event (among other reasons).
I'm in the slice that ends 10am est.0 -
Slice 4, joined with about 20 hours to go. Averaged around 700 per PVP last season, with a high of 906.
Beat one seed team, had to skip past a level 233 XForce in the next match, with a leveled up Storm and max LCap. Hadn't even hit 200 yet, and get hit with a 250 Xforce and 207 Ladythor. (I went in to the battle with 233 Xforce (5/1/5), max LCap, 105 Storm.) I've barely escaped every match I've made so far, only to reach the 300 point token and get a Moonstone. (Thanks so much for that.)
This is not how it's supposed to go. Whatever changes were made need to be undone immediately. Yes, it becomes a challenge...no, it is not more fun. If this is just a ploy to sell more health packs, or to just aggravate your fanbase in general, it's working...and it's terrible.0 -
I had two significantly different experiences with Divine vs. Cat5.
My Top characters:
166x GSBW, 3*Cap, Falcon, Psylocke, 3* Thor
140x Mystique, Hood
3* Storm at 110
Both tournaments I played some 2* teams up to around 400, to try and get a feel for changes.
Divine Champions: Finished with 759 points in 19th place. I saw what felt like a lot more variety of teams. I was seeing <2* max to around 200, 2* max until around 500, 2* max and transition teams to around 600, then the wall of 166 around 600. I did not see many of the Max Loaner, 270 X, 270 LT.
Cat5: I saw non max 2* teams and a few max 2* teams until 500. At 500, all I see if a wall of 166, with many, many more max XForce and 4Thor. I have 12 hours to go and I'm in 30th place with 520 points.
Divine Champions felt like there were fewer of the Advanced (4* max, 3* max) teams playing, and felt like the 2* transitioning teams were playing a lot. Cat5 seemed like the Gamora rewards brought out many of the heavy hitters. So it felt like the Cat5 PvP became more static as there seemed to be less interaction at the lower ranks.
My feelings: It didn't seem like there were major changes to the MMR. It felt more like the buffed characters in Divine Champions brought out more players, as the 2* and transitioning players felt like they had more of a chance with the buffs.
I still feel you need a non-competative score PvP arena training area. Once where there is no point loss, only progression, and everyone can play their full roster to climb a ladder to win a set of rewards once a month. A place where you are happy to interact with different teams, winning and losing while training. A place that does not affect season placement nor MMR. That offers a large variety of other player teams. I think this type of area would help keep the casual audience playing to work on climbing for a nice set of rewards every month. These casual players would get more enjoyment out of the game then the current slugfest PVP is. They would stick around and buy more packs and roster slots.0 -
2nd slice
My roster consists of a level 200 xforce and 5 166s. I usually get to around 600-700 before the xforce/4thor wall comes my way or I can at least use some iso to skip those until I get to 600-700. Not the case with cat5. Hit this wall at 300 points. Went to close to 700 last night and the climb never got easier.
I'd rather not hit the 270 wall at 300 but whatever. It doesn't stop me. It just makes the climb longer and I consume more health packs. Don't get me wrong I'd rather not see it until 600-700 like it was before. That made the experience more enjoyable and less stressful. The major problem that I was concerned about was...now that this wall comes so early nearly all the teams on my climb can retaliate so this could be a hot mess. Well my concerns were spot on. Went to sleep just under 700 points and had over 100 points in losses when I woke up. I usually don't use my first shield until I'm over 800 points and now I'm getting lit up at under 700 because every one I best to get there can and will retaliate. I usually will take 1 or 2 losses overnight when I'm around 700 points but this was a page of losses so long I couldn't even view them all.
Not a fan of whatever this new matchmaking system is doing. Not enjoying cat5 one bit.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, divine champions seemed to work well. Not sure if this new system was in place for that event as well or if 2 diff systems are being tested but divine champions was great. It was a bit more challenging then usual but that's ok. I saw a wide variety of teams and levels and my difficulty during the climb progressed nicely. Finished with just over 900 points.0 -
I just joined Cat-5 and also got hit early by the wall. After the 3 seed teams, almost every match-up had at least one character at a higher level than my highest character and most teams had two such characters. As a player in the midst of transitioning from 2* to 3*, I'm going to have a really hard time even getting up to 300 points. By the time I reached 200 points, I had already skipped a bunch of matches and used up all my health packs. Not really the most fun experience.0
-
Hit the 166 wall under 300 points in Cat 5. Wow. This change needs to go, quickly. For transitioners it's like nightmare mode got activated.0
-
I'm stuck around 750. Lots of 270 4hors and XF, all worth less than 20 points. I really, really wanted to get the 1,000 progression this round, and it's looking unlikely. I've been able to score 8-900 easily in most PVPs since the shard switch, so this timing kind of sucks. I don't think it was deliberate, but it's frustrating.0

The matchmaking for the storm tournament seems much harder then in the past. I have seen harder matches sooner then i have in the last couple seasons. The current matchmaking system seems fine any change would just cause major health pack useage to get same level of points from past couple seasons. This is what happened for me in the mohawk tournament. Struggled alot more like 3 or 4 seasons ago before the newer matchmaking system.0

I had a similar, negative, experience to many of the other folks posting here. Previously, I could get to about 400 pts without much too much problem, and, with work, I could usually get to about 600 or 650. This time, I hit the X/166/166 wall at like 300 points, and I had to severely struggle to make 500 this time, and now it's all x/270/270s.
So, overall, not a fan.0 -
In Cat. 5, I'm sitting at 950 or so. I can't find any nodes worth more than 14 points, no matter how many skips I attempt. And any time I come unshielded, an avalanche of attacks comes my way, because all of a sudden I'M the only thing out there worth more than 14 points. I did two matches yesterday between shields, and lost 164 points.
My first page of roster is 230 XF, 166 Blade, 166 LCap, 166 Groot, and 142 Nick Fury.
I'm EXTREMELY glad that this change, or tweak, or what have you, isn't going to be in effect for the upcoming season.0 -
Top roster - 1 x 166, 1 x 153, 1 x 150 and 9 x 140
In time slot 2 in Cat 5., joined last night with ~24 hours to go. Seed teams were fine, then hit a raft of 166 teams at around 100 points. This keeps oscillating between 2 x 94 teams and 2 x 166 or greater teams when I refresh nodes, sometimes requiring multiple attempts. 6 hours to go, sitting at just over 320 points in #51st position for now. Seems for me at least to be erratically easy and impossible!0 -

To add to this, my shard just finished with me in third, with 585 points.
I have no idea if that is what the devs wanted or not. 3rd place only just halfway to the top progression reward. Seems bonkers.0 -

This is just about exactly what Im seeing. Well, my XF is only about lvl 200 (but covered) and my matches were all sub 6 points, and at one point I saw the same guy three straight skips. I had to cycle through about 40 to get a non single digit match. Took about 60 before I ran into a 20+ point one. And Im not even the top of my bracket, Im in 3rd by ~300 points.0 -
I'm in slice 3. My top level guys are 240 xforce and thor followed by some 166s.
After the seed teams I've seen pretty much maxed or close to maxed 166 teams and the very occasional 2* team if I skip an awful lot. This is making the initial climb much more of a slog than I'm used to. Although not as bad as the previous mmr change when it was 270 teams straight out of the gate this isn't much better imo.0 -
Normally I can hit top 100, sitting around 500-600 pts with a lvl 110 cap and hulk. Now in category 5 I went straight from seed teams to full 94's. Now I'm hitting 166 teams back in 170th place and below 400 points. The last round seemed better from my angle.
I guess I'm going to have to start a lot sooner if this is status quo, I can't be burning health packs before I hit 300 unless I have lots of time to get them back (and if I'm not using them for PVE).
I'm all for a fair fight and fighting my own level team, if there wasn't persistent health. The first fight is the only fair one, then I'm going in hurt, or with my B squad, and facing the other guy's full health best D team. Even If after a loss you lost a certain % of your health say 25%, you could fight to the death and still play after that. more fun than running from an early cascade.0
