Okay, so I have read where some players keep saying that you only need 2-4 characters that are maxed out to play this game and do very well. Well, here is my 2 cents...You need the extra characters (and they need to be maxed out just like your best characters) because the AI simply cheats. Lets be honest, there is no way a team of 40 level characters should be taking your max level wolvie, daken, obw to its knees. And if they are going to do that on a regular basis, then you need to have other team combination to finish the other nodes. Also, if you only max out your top 2-4 players, there is not way any of your other characters have a chance against the AI because scaling is based on your top character (which annoys me because having a 3* character as an essential with a boost does not help with your scaling as their powers are based on the covers you have which sometimes is paltry) who I am forced to use without sufficient powers (meaning I am using a health pack every essential node or 2) and on top of that the freaking ai says it is an easy node because I have one underpowered character who is leveled higher because of boost but not because they have the covers to make them useful!!!

Grunth makes a valid point. The node difficulty level is out of whack, based on one's entire roster, and the AI cheats consistently, getting all the matches and cascades, with your needed colors nowhere to be found. In my experience, you will get a favorable board in about one in 10 tries - hardly random. I don't mind losing on a 'hard' node to a superior team, but when a 'normal' mode is ONLY beatable with boosts and luck, then it's not normal. icon_exclaim.gif

It's that time of the month again! Ahem, "No, the AI does not cheat: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=15895&start=40#p220817".

In terms of people saying you need 2-4 characters to do well, they're referring to PvP, where pretty much everyone except XF and LadyThor is irrelevant. Yeah your PvE scaling suffers, but who cares when PvP gives you 3x the amount of covers that PvE does anyways. The newer 3* transition strategy seems to be to level up multiple characters at the same time slowly to prevent PvE scaling from happening.

Polarity, you are right, but the problem with that is with so many characters being released, a player like myself cannot get through the 2 to 3* transition for over a year.

I keep hearing that the AI doesn't cheat. But it sure seems that way when you play. The AI always seems to know the right matches to do to make big combinations. Case in point: a match that the AI needs to use a power is right there and matchable on their turn. Instead of doing the obvious match, they match a totally different color, a color that they do not need at all. What happens next is that they get three matches in a row, one of which is a critical that allows them to make an extra match. They make that match, taking a big chunk out of my character's health, leaving no viable matches for me to make. I'm left with making the **** match that the AI should have made, which is useless for me and doesn't help at all.

The thing is that the AI seems to know things that you don't. It's like they can see above the board line to know which matches make combinations, while you have to guess.
