Node difficulty

In the new PVE, the node with Mags, Ironman and a Don is labeled 'normal' difficulty, yet even with boosts and teamups it is impossible to beat? Why? Because whatever colors you need you don't get, while the AI gets all the matches. I can see this happening occasionally, but when it happens 4 times in a row it's not random! I tried 4 different combos, and boosted everything to the max, and still cannot win! Tell me how this is NORMAL difficulty???!?

And do t get me started on the whole 'top 50' thing, what a crock. Get a clue and make this game fun again!!!!

  • That one is always the hardest node. Since CMags was 'nerfed' he actually became much harder defensively and in PVE. The 2 possible strategies I've seen work are either kill Magneto first to get rid of the most damaging abilities, or kill the Don, and pray you can get Magneto down fast enough. Hood and/or Falcon help, OBW if you're in 2* land.

You'll see lots of people complaining about it the old event thread: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=19398

Rags/MohawkStorm/Loki can still beat any PVE node. Cleared it once using them. My other clear was with LazyThor/Loki/Hood.
  • If you're in 2* land I was able to clear it once with Thor/CStorm/OBW + Boost Purple/Blue and second time with a 94Hulk/CStorm/A.Wolvie + Boost Red/Yellow, Boost Purple/Blue, Boost ALL AP. All of them max level. Good luck and don't let the game piss you off. Leave that node last and hope for a nice board. I've gone after Magneto first every single time

When in doubt I always go with Patch/LDaken/Loki. 2 true healers plus the ability to turn all of Cmags protect tiles against him AND punish the enemy for all of their "lucky" match 4's.

I am in my 2* to 3* transition and I used Wolvie, Daken and OBW with g/b boast and all boost x3 for both plus all 20% more damage boost times 3. The first time I destroyed magneto within 2 turns and the rest of the match was easy with minimal damage (got a cascade from a T match on first turn). Second time I tried the same thing without the 20% damage and used critical boost x 3 and magneto destroyed me after 4 turns as I could not get any matches other than team ups or yellows (which I don't need since my guys don't have any active yellow powers and the AI doesn't need since they are being fed from the autogeneration of the goons). It was horrible!!!

My only suggestion: Captain Marvel. Her red can DECIMATE that node. Unless you get a board full of blue, then you honestly might as well just retreat, cuz Mags projectiles will do something like 6,000 damage to someone, and if you kill him Iron Man's freon beam does about the same.
  • I used spidey/obw/cStorm. Stun mags with wind storm and get ap for aggressive recon. Got hit with mags blue once but spidey took the blow so no biggey

God bless Spidey. "Uh-oh, pain coming in on next move. Are a couple purple shields up? Check. Is Spidey able to stun a crucial opponent for 2 turns at least? Nope. Looks like you're up Spidey"

Really? All 3 clears on that node were relatively easy on me using

    AWolverine (5/5/3 ; 94)
    2Daken (3/5/5 ; 94)
    The Hood (5/5/1 ; 94)
  • As a 2* roster I've used:
    LThor
    OBW
    3*Captain Marvel (5/3/3)
  • This node doesn't get hard until Magneto can one shot someone with Magnetic Translocation, but even when he can, since the AI more or less choose Cook the Books, Magnetic Translocation, and Ultra Freon Beam with equal probability, there's a very wide variance in the difficulty. If the AI decides to head for Ultra Freon Beam it's generally beatable with a strong offense team even if Ultra Feron Beam one shots someone. If they went with Cook the Books it's roughly a normal difficulty encounter, and if they just make a beeline to MT, you're usually just dead.

The way I've been playing it is to hunt red hard so that
    >Daken is hidden and healthy
    >wolverine can Ada slash
    >reduces magnetic projectiles damage

When he has enough ap for it I start matching blue so that Daken eats the reduced damage, then I hide him again to heal up.

I just went through a game where I did pretty much everything wrong but the AI dropped 3 Cook the Books so it was an easy win. And had they made a beeline for MT I'd have lost pretty badly even if I did everything right, and if they saved up for Ultra Freon Beam the result would be somewhere in between. Unless you're trying to make a beeline to Technopathic Strike to get rid of all the blue tiles, there's just too much luck once Magneto is high enough to kill someone with a MT. Sure there are still strategies involved like if you can stun Magneto after he has 10 blue that's better than doing nothing, and you want them to have more yellow AP so that they wouldn't use Backroom Deal (because they're using Coercive Field) because Don can only use one CD ability per turn so you don't want him to use Backroom Deal as that'd reduce his chance of using Cook the Book which is what you want. But in the end if they dropped a MT on you on turn 3 which they definitely can, you're still just screwed.
