X Force, Thoress, & Deadpool(minus A Little Off the)

edited February 2015 in MPQ Tips and Guides
I was thinking of who might be a good 3rd to go with X Force and Thoress, and then it hit me. Deadpool. Hear me out.

Color Spectrum
X Force - Black, Green, Yellow
Thor - Red, Blue, Yellow
Deadpool - Red, Pink, Black

This covers the full color spectrum in MPQ, so that with every match you're taking as much damage as possible.

Synergy
Since life of the party is passive, and does not actually use any AP, X Force would never be competing with him for black. In addition, most attacks that could cause substantial damage would be buffered by Deadpool so that X Force or Thor won't take any damage. Plus, his health(in most cases) would immediately regenerate.

Whales, Whales, Whales | 5 Covers
When you are deprived of all other colors, you still have has purple to fall back on.

A Little Off The Top | 0 Covers
So that he will not execute his move instead Thorress when someone challenges you

Life of the Party | 5 Covers

Level 150, or as high as you can level him without A Little Off The Top . Obviously this will not work if you have him fully covered, but if you only have life of the party and whales, this would be a killer 3rd person IMO

If you are just looking for someone with an active purple then Loki is probably a better choice.

Right; The problem with Loki is that his black is active. This is to avoid Trickery firing off instead of Surgical Strike.

You are trying to optimize for defense, but defense doesn't seem worth optimizing for in the current offense-heavy meta. If you have XF and Thoress, there are better supports for both offense and defense than Deadpool.

Doesn't Smite/ALOTT have the same issue? It's actually even worse since ALOTT is only 6 AP and very likely to fire before Smite on defense...

Keep in mind that his black active can only be used if the other team has special tiles on the board. So against non-special-tile teams, he effectively has no active black.

This particular build has a no-red Deadpool.

I agree, see the title of the post "X Force, Thoress, & Deadpool(minus A Little Off the)"

Missed that. Seems a bit counterproductive though since that makes Deadpool a lot easier to KO.

You actually made a really good point and good case for Loki as an option as well.

Feel free to assume Loki has no black covers then. An underleveled Loki is probably more effective than an underleveled Deadpool.

I use Deadpool with X-Force and 4* Thor all the time. I think he's one of the better partners, for color coverage and ability usage, and works pretty well for defense in PvP. (As well as any defense works, which isn't that important.)

Both Loki and Hood are good partners, but personally, I'd rather go up against them than Deadpool. They are easy to beat. If you boost green (3 or 6 AP), you can down them in one (or two) matches.

If you boost you can kill Deadpool (or pretty much anyone else) quickly too.

I don't think Deadpool contributes enough to XF/ GT to make him a good partner unless specifically you are able to surgical purple.
    1. Whales costs 14 AP. Given that purple is like the 5th prioritized color with XF / GT (You'd never match purple before red/blue/green/black), this means you're casting whales extremely infrequently, defeating the purpose of bringing him along for purple coverage.
    2. AloTT conflicts directly with smite. I can't really think of a scenario that you'd rather cast AloTT over smite (unless you were extremely desperate), so that gets wasted as well.

He works if surgical on purple eliminates his first weakness, but otherwise he's pretty much strictly inferior to Loki. Cage / Hood seem a lot better than DP as well for that team composition, making him a serviceable 4th string but ultimately pretty average.
