I had this thought right before I went to sleep after seeing Starlord. How about a character like Molecule Man or a variant on Deadpool where their powers work opposite of everyone else. What I mean is, their level 1 power hits for like 5000 hp and it decreases in effect until you hit 5. The caveat would be they only have like 1500-2000 hp at low levels and improves to a normal 3* range.
That way, the player has to balance the total hitting for that character versus trying to keep the character alive as everyone will target them first.

If that's one of the abilities, a 3/5/5 (3 being the one that keeps getting less useful with more covers) is the way to go and the problem is basically solved. Depending on what the other abilities are, the character may or not be any good. If all the abilities are less useful with more covers, it'll be something like 4/4/5, less than cover max, and that character would probably be used in high level play for support and defense. Or, they might be saved for less difficult play.
As a transitioner I would enjoy this character a lot, since collecting 3* covers feels like a drag sometimes. With just a few covers, health is low and the character rarely does significant damage/defense, so starting out with amazing damage/defense would be great even if health is low.
I'm not sure if that character would be a game-changer, as most people with a solid 3* roster or even a well-organized transitioning one can get a few thousand in damage on one character within five turns if a few thousand is absolutely necessary to kill this character . There's some luck involved, as you would need board control to make sure they don't get very much AP, but isn't that always the case? As a transitioner I'd just try to keep them on perpetual stun, stealing and hitting them on offense whenever possible. I imagine would just be like those PvP instances when you're clearly playing a team with characters that have great abilities and synergy, but less health. Or, when you play against Snipers with low-health characters and you have to make sure there isn't a Deadly Shot that goes off because it's a cheap skill that'll be the end of one of your characters.
The trade-off wouldn't necessarily be worthwhile for people who aren't transitioners because there are so many characters that don't require that trade-off.0 -

Take 1/1/1 character, place behind 3/5/5 character with the same colors, watch hellfire rain down on the enemy team.

I was thinking it would be pretty cool to have a character with a "meta" power similar to this but I was thinking something along the lines of the Collector that would do X amount of damage for everyone in your "collection" or roster.0
