A challenge to the Devs.

Play your own game. Put yourselves in a non-newb bracket, and try to get a cover for Starlord. Better yet, find an alliance with 19 others willing to grind for top 50. Did I say top 50? Well, sorry, your alliance will need to be in the 30's when the switching of players starts.
Afterwards, tell us how it feels to be able to scroll through Starlords profile, because that's all you'll get to do with him for months...unless you're going to spend hundreds of dollars on covers JUST TO FIND OUT WHAT HIS 5TH ONES EVEN DO (why won't you post character info anymore?).
P.S. Don't forget to buy a roster spot!
For the record, I've cut back my playing this season and will only be gambling on a late bracket, but this just brings back the haunting memories of Lady Thor and Elektra.

I'm sure the devs do play this game. The only problem is this:... they have been playing since the beginning which means they all have maxed rosters. And when getting anything new, (like all of their covers, hp, iso, and roster slots), they probably get free.
A real challenge would be for them all to start over, from the beginning, with nothing added for free. Get 20 people from D3/Demiurge and form an alliance with all 20 starting from the very beginning. The game is very different now, than it was a year ago. Being a new player, or a 2* - 3* transition player is a lot harder now.
Starting over without a maxed roster, and having to earn/buy everything, would give them a feel for what it's really like.
side note. This is just a theory of mine. Not something that I know to be 100% fact. This is based on what I have seen from other game companies. In other companies, (not D3,, because I don't know for sure), employees will start the game with everything maxed given to them for free by the company.0 -
I assume they have tools that can scale rosters, and they play all different levels.
But then, seeing some of the "playtesting" results, I assume they don't play that much - more likely they are relying on data from all the "beta playtesters" (i.e. - you)0 -

It sounds like you are saying the same thing I was. The devs have the ability to alter their rosters however they want, whenever they want. How can they get a good feel for the game when they can have any and all characters at what level/build is best?
They should start over from the beginning with NO freebies, maxed or altered levels, nothing. Start a new game and play it just like everyone else. No making characters max automatically or lowering the levels to drop scaling. And no adding new characters for free with free slots to put them in. If they can't earn the new character, they don't get it. Period. If they do earn it, then they have to buy the slot for it. Not enough Hp? Well too bad. Sell an old character that they have put a lot of time and resources into, or sell the the new one for a bit of iso. Like I said, the game is very different now compared to like it was. There is no way the devs can know what it's like unless they play the game the exact same way as everyone else.
edit, nothing against the devs or the game. Personally, I love the game very much. I just think it could be better if they played the same way as the players had to.0 -
Also, do not let them use Moonstone; she is OP!0

The problem is that (especially in a development house the size of demiurge) they can try to approximate or simulate the metagame, but there is just no way at all for them to "realistically" test how things like MMR, brackets, and long-term character development work in the real world of 100k players. (And I really doubt that any of the people working on and testing the "future" game as their day job are going to, in their free time, play the "real world" game MORE to an extent that their play experience is anything like a top 100 alliance member posting on the forums, rather than the majority of players, ie casual 2.5* rosters who aren't affected by 90% of the things the forums discusses)0 -
I'd even let them use $50 worth of HP. We know the bang for your buck is terrible in this game, so it won't get them very far anyway.
I'll be waiting anxiously to hear which 3* they max first...9 months from now.0
