Shield Cooldown Failure. ATTENTION DEVS !!!

Hey mpq fellas
i just want to explain why im posting this thread and what its about.
I tried to shield hop during this cap marvel pvp.
i used my first 3h shield at early 800ish.
pushed furher before sleep with an 8h shield to about 850.
had a really low bracket btw.
early thia morning i hopped again with another refreshed 3h shield to early 900 i think.
long time i was alone at the top
Suddently a player madr his claimb and stole my 1st place with just 5-10 points away.
i was still shielded but he not and he went on fighting.
I qd him and thought i have to hit him NOW if i want my place back and get him further away from me.
sniped him and made another quick battle and shielded for 24h cause no other was available.
So made it again to 1st and he was 2nd and battled till he was 5 points behind me to shield.
But that wasnt all to that moment.
a 3rd player wanted to join our party for 1st place and claimbed about 20 points behind me and shielded.
(it was just a few minutes later)hours later and about 8.5h left in pvp i had the feeling that this battle between us will be a heavy one.
so i was in a bad situation imo. Sure i was shielded till end but both players probably push again and take the lead.
Like a hawk i looked at leaderboard to check my position.
every time i was still 1st.
But the bad feeling that one of them would take the lead i skipped some matches to hop for a higher space between us all.
i qd the 2nd place fought him and win. Made another quick battle and wanted to shield.

And wow i look at a screen of blue shields a cant use cause they arent refreshed.
i calculated that i should be able to shield for 3h but refresh was still 33min.
so i was screwed.
Claimbed to 1k but about 10min later i was already down to 850.

So here is the reason why i post this.

There should be a screen at the shields to see how long each takes to refresh
Sure you just can use 1 or 2 and calculate easier.
but if u have to take quick decisions its really difficult to know which or if you can shield again.
especially if you shield hop alot in a pvp.

Its a shame that you can just see the cooldown time when your unshielded.
we should be able to see this all the time.

What are your thoughts?

Am i just a moron?
was this maybe already somewhere posted?

    I defnitely think there needs to be a display that counts down your cooldown on shields. Even if it only refreshes every five minutes, or something.

    Yeah. I'm in your bracket and saw that happen. I really felt sorry for you. I figured your phone had died or you fell asleep.

    The UI for shields is utterly terrible and confusing. There's not even an explanation for how the cooldown works.

    But they often do this sort of thing often, where they implement a new feature and then work on making it less frustrating. It's a problem because players hate change (even for the better) and then Demiurge compounds the hate with poor implementation.

    If this is like the introduction of TUs, then are already working on a new UI, but it's set to release in R61 or R62. If they don't already have a new UI, they need to build one, pronto.

    My thoughts exactly. That said though, people need to be better at keeping track of when their cooldowns end so they can avoid this.

    Yes....I agree with the OP. There should be a count down timer that you can see when shielded to be able to better determine your shileding situation!

    It's this kind of thing that makes me wonder if they ever test anything at all before just shoveling it out the door for release. All it should have taken was for one tester to try a shield one time while one was on cooldown to realize there was a HUGE problem with the UI. But instead we get a whole season of frustrated players that lose entire events that they worked really hard to top 1, top 5, whatever because of a tiny little mistake in timing.

    Too many people on this board are in love with the idea that the Developers are complete idiots. They're not this oblivious. I'm sure they are perfectly aware of the UI problem. It's good to complain, though, so they make fixing it a priority.

    The Developers are simply following some version of the 80/20 rule. They put in a little effort, see what happens, and then evaluate to determine how much additional effort they want to invest. Players, on the on the hand, want perfection every time.

    I have been lucky to not get caught without a shield, but I have seen my placement rewards pulled out from under me because I used up my 3 active shields and couldn't safely go higher. I don't want perfection, but this issue has been acknowledged -- so it would be nice to have an update. Seeing an accurate timer of shield status would be nice, but so would also be the option to pay for a fourth shield. Its really frustrating to see someone rushing up the ranks and having no opportunity to compete with them -- refreshing screen "did they get hit" "did they get hit" " damn they shielded"

    On the contrary, they can be diabolical geniuses when necessary. Just look at what the OP spent on shields to end up with a score of 850. Before this cooldown ****, I could push late and break 1000 without ever shielding at all. Seriously, if we had been tasked with achieving the goal of making people spend more on shields, while at the same time reducing everyone's score so hardly anyone gets the progression awards, how many of us would have come up with an idea so brilliantly effective?

    Can you point me to the post that first suggested we should only be able to do a 3hr shield once every 8 hours? I'd love to know whom to "thank"

    I was more meaning the idea of shield cooldowns, not necessarily the metrics they used to apply to them.

    For the record, I do agree that 8 hours is a little overboard on a 3 hour shield.

    In my honest opinions, cooldowns on shields is a good thing for the game, however, I feel like the cooldowns should fall somewhere in the area of 80% of the lifespan of the shield. Three hour shield is 180 minutes, so basically breaks down to two and a half hours. Eight hour shield would break down to 6 hours. Blah blah blah.

    While I agree you should be able to see this information, I don't understand what the OP would have done differently had he known hire much time was left in the other cool downs.

    He would've delayed that last hop for 33 minutes

    I've given up on shield hopping but when I was I just used the alarm app on my phone to set up multiple timers for each shield cooldowns. It's the best way to do it until the devs add an interface in-game to show it.
