Essential Characters and the Vault

Was there not enough outcry with as essential one week out of the vault?

At least you get a shot at earning him. Punisher was out of the blue for essential and I've been playing for 60 days, NO CHANCE to get him before the event started.

I know that this is bad form, but I don't care.

I have been hoarding tokens, waiting for Thor and Mags to come out of the vault, so any chance to get Thor covers is great. Sorry for the new players, but this is awesome.

I will even try for 2 or 3 covers now, which I don't usually worry about.

I only need one red cover to finish my Thor. His red cover is the easy reward. So happy.

I need yellow and green to finish mine. Had despaired of getting them for another month or two at least.

It's weird: true. But technically 3* Thor being vaulted doesn't change much. He's a top 15% reward now and presumably required for the next PvE; that won't have changed anything. He's not required or even powered up for the current event.

And given how great the character is, I doubt anyone would complain if he were rewarded even more often.

Really, the only thing that sucks is the vault system, and that's their own fault for releasing so many characters. Until that fundamental problem is solved, you'll keep seeing weirdness like this (and the much-worse Punisher thing, where he was required when nearly no one could possibly have him).

Currnt PVE refresh time is 8 hrs... totally new thing and sweet posion for healthy pack

I understand all of these words individually, but in this particular configuration I have to admit I'm stumped.

I could write you a long list of 3*'s I didn't have for essentials at 60 days of playing, and ones that I didn't have a chance of getting unless it was a random token draw since there was never an event rewarding that cover in the very short time I was playing.

You used to be able to make up for not having essential cover with piles of extra grinding. So at least this time you have a chance to win a Thor or two before he is an essential. Also pretty sure D3 increases drop rates on covers right before the event they are featured....seems to be pretty common.

Which is why they should always give you a loaner for character specific nodes, if you have the character with extra covers you get your advantage there, locking people out of points is lame.

I disagree. I've always seen it like a "secret level". I remember playing pve when I had 0 to 6 3*'s or before they co-ordinated pvp or previous ove to reward the essential for the next event and I would day dream "oh man, if only I had a punisher....cool" Or I would feel the burn of throwing away a "useless" psylocke cover when she would all of a sudden be featered. I like it when in 1 event there are different levels for different essentials. It takes teh redundacy out of the game, adds fun, and something to strive for.

I feel a genation gap in this game already...those darn kids just want everything right now. If they give out a loaner, why not give out a loaner for every charecter that's boosted in a pve? Where does the charity end? Games are challenging, or supposed to be.

I've had some good placements in pve when I didn't have the essentail cover. I just had to work harder...that's kinda the point of the entire concept. They are pretty good at rewards of a charecter to be featured before the pve event when they are essential in the pve before, or a pvp event durring.

In recent pve after teh gaunltlet when they gave out loki green I had to suck it up since I didn't beat the gauntlet and didn't have a loki kicking around...think that was for elektra release too?

Seems sometimes people spend more time complaining everything isn't handed to them then having fun playing the game. Would it still be a "collection" if a pile of covers fell into your lap at day 30 of playing?

Not saying 60 days is a long time or that I'm a vet or anything. I meant that was a great way to alienate newer players. Punisher was vaulted the entire time I had been a player (no chance at token drops) then all of a sudden he's an essential character. Those nodes are usually worth more or as much as the hardest nods in each sub, so that event I didn't place as high as I had been.

I'm assuming Thor will have essential nodes in the next event, and I should be able to get him from the hunt.

Yeah, I feel ya. That one is an extremly valid concer. I think with all the complaints from vets and new players alike, valid points like yours get washed over by jaded people like me....lol

How is this a problem? How is this any different from any new 3* that gets released and is then essential in the next PVE?
