[PVP) defensive teams
Hi there!
I am back to the game for a few days now and there were a LOT of changes since i played the last time.
So i was wondering myself, what are good defensive teams these days?
Or teams that make the attacker skip.
I hope you guys can give me some information, to get deeper into the game.
Thx

Hey there, generally people tend to skip high health pools (Dino, Hulk, Thor, etc.), or risky combinations like OBW + Ares. Teams like MStorm + MNMags or similar may be quick offensively but also extremely weak defensively....0 -
X-force is pretty much a must have. If you don't have 4*thor you can pair him with hood, deadpool or magneto.
Unlike 4*thor a lot of players have XF covered & levelled and nobody with a X-Force will skip a team that doesn't contain 4*.
From you post i can't determine how far your roster is or how high in rankings you want to get.
IGN and ally are always good to mention if you want to know what's your best defensive team or which team might get accessable for you in the near future.0 -
thanks guys for your great help. i highly appreciate that
my goals are normaly top25 in pvp (for 2 covers). most of the time i can do this.
what i have right now: deadpool, patch, sentry, punisher (13 covers).
i could get doom, hulk, daredevil to a decent level (i consider to buy some covers, but not sure, thats why i ask about defensive teams as well).
sadly i missed some chances during my break for xforce... so i have to go an other way
EDIT: ign: coRexx; ally: bart simpson0 -
After looking at your roster the best advice I can give is to finish your punisher first, then work on patch (because he heals quickly) then work on Black Widow Original. Your Thor is covered and almost leveled up so you might as well finish him as well since he's a good partner for OBW.0

Until Boosts are removed or the AI goes first, there are no good defensive teams. You will get skipped if you aren't worth the points, but if you are worth 45 points and had 3 X-Forces, people would attack you regardless. The last time I skipped an opponents was when 4hor was the featured PvP after she was released and I had only 1 cover, I couldnt compete with her 21K hitpoints, plus X-Force, plus Fury if I wasn't at full health, aside from that I can't see a reason for skipping anyone as long as you have X-force.0

Patch & Hulk. Pretty much will be seen as an win, but also seen as lost health packs. Above 800 there are no defensive teams.0
-
Perhaps a better question would be, if all points were equal which team would you rather not face.
Mine is 3* Mags + Hood + Xforce. Always seems to give me trouble. I prefer not boosting.0 -

If you provide some of your roster info that might help you get somewhat useful advice.0 -

And stephen43084, i said it a few posts ago, if you want to check out my heroes - there you go ign: coRexx; ally: bart simpson0 -
What PhaserHawk said.
Usually an XF + 4Thor combo doesn't make me flinch. Target XF, keep an eye on 4Thor blue, X-Force + Surgical Strike, bye-bye XF, then prioritize between 4Thor and special guest/3rd.
However:
First time I saw XF + 4Thor + Loki I realized what a nightmarish slog it could be. So generally avoid. 5-cover green Loki I think is the worst.
XF + 4Thor + Fury... only if I feel lucky.
XF + 4Thor + Dino... grindfest. Only if I had 4Thor myself (which I don't). None of my characters can put out that much damage in the amount of time I like to finish a round.
At a lower level, I generally try to avoid (although it's not really avoidable) any CStorm or Daken teams.0 -
Hulk used to be a valued scarecrow, but once someone learns how to 1-turn down a Hulk he stops being an effective scarecrow.
Mileage varies for everyone, but my personal experience is that the effectiveness of the scarecrow team varies based on the prize it is guarding.
There are a few truths that have already been mentioned here:
1 - Who do you skip? And at what point value does it flip and the risk is worth taking? Others are thinking the same way.
2 - Teams with lots of Health are more often skipped if the point value is low. Not worth the damage incurred to beat them down.
3 - Teams with cheap offensive powers and combos are also skipped if points are low. (Punisher, Ares, Daken, and Deadpool have cheap powers that will take a chunk out of people - that's a deterrent if you are a low-value target.)
4 - If your score is high enough, no team will protect it.
5 - As the event draws to a close, people are trying to score and will hit a team they might have skipped 6 hours ago. This is a combination of several factors: late climbers who hit anything, desperation for points, and this being the last fight (or 2) someone intends to take before throwing up their last 3 hour shield - so they don't care if your scarecrow pounds them to a bloody mess.
For me:
Patch/Daken + Loaner Feature: has been able to defend a score of up to 500 points until the final ~12 hours.
Patch/Daken + Leveled Feature: has been able to defend a score of up to 600 points until the final ~12 hours.
XForce/(Magneto|Deadpool|Hood) + Leveled Feature: One of these squads can often defend a score of 700-750 until the final 1-2 hours.
I imaging XForce/4hor + Leveled Feature can successfully defend scores up to 800-850 (given I catch myself skipping them if they are only good for 22 or fewer points).
I was able to leave XForce/Hood/Punisher in for Army of One (Punisher event) and they defended an unshielded 700 for the final 5 hours of the event with no shield - and that was good for top50. I wasn't motivated to finish higher so that finish was adequate top keep my alliance in the top100.
The transition players in my alliance to find their sweet spot(s); those guys are trying to hold back as many HP as they can for roster spots so they can't be throwing HP into shields. Their strategy is to find the score that their team can quietly protect, they push for that number, then wait for the time to make their final push in the event (the 'time-remaining' number where their roster will be spent as time expires). Those guys are jazzed to pull a top100 finish if their score holds. They are trying to keep their score low for as long as possible so that they are an attractive target for the shortest window of time. The less time you spend above a score your scarecrow can defend the better.0 -

I used to target X-Force first, that's a bad idea. If you have your own X-Force and are matching green and black you can generally keep X-Force from going off, but that means there is more red/blue on the boared, I have died way too many times to this, so now I focus 4hor while collecting my green/black thus saving a lot of health packs and losses.0 -
Hood and Loki are probably the scariest 3*s in the game as far as defense goes. They may not have great active skills (hood kinda does, but its expensive) and they don't have a lot of health, but they completely change a match, and not in a good way for the attacker. Loki with 5 green only needs 1 Mischief trigger to grant an almost insurmountable advantage to your team, and Hood is, well...Hood is Hood. His blue passive has been tinykittying up your math since people realized he was good
If is see one of these guys paired with X-Force or 4Thor, I'm skipping it unless its worth like 45 points and I'm feeling lucky.0
