What finally made me quit

This post is not a self-righteous declaration of me knowing what is best for the game. I am not going to leave after many months of enjoyment suddenly bashing it either. This is merely information for the devs, simple feedback of why a long term player quit.

First-What made me stay

Character tune ups (Daredevil)
Third covers added!
True Healing-This made sure that people could have the same success while needing to play less. Wouldn't mind if all real healing went away, as its counter to your design of health packs and short burst gameplay.
The Gauntlet
New PvE storylines, trying new things (survival modes)

TLDR:Great characters, great gameplay, a wonderful fun time.

What made me quit

PvE reset timers-Required too much grinding and committment to compete. I shouldn't have to work 5 times as hard to get the same results I was achieving before.

Rewards are all or nothing for 4* transition-There is no "eventuality" for getting 4*s. I don't expect to get 4*'s as quickly as a person who worked for them, but when its all or nothing, I'm not willing to compete at that high of a level, even though I have the roster to do so. A long term system of rewards you could save up to get a 4* would have eliminated this issue. Again, too much of a time commitment required for the reward.

Can't level my covers-I could collect 3* covers, but knew I could never level them all. Your iso rewards cannot keep pace, so extra grinding is required. This does not make me think strategically. This depresses me when I realize the time needed to level, and that I will never really get to use most characters, and that new one's are a complete waste of time. Basically leveling past about level 140 is too much effort for not enough reward.

TLDR-Too much effort, not enough reward.

  • Right there with you. The top 50 alliance I was in slowly started to disband until an eventual implosion which left me alliance-less. And because of what you mentioned and a few more reasons, I really don't care.

What's making me stay are the people.

    We miss you, SUPERTOM.
  • There is an announcement above this one that says PvE timers are going to 8 hours, so way less super grind.

Nice! I have out right ignored the last few PVE's cause I just don't want to grind them as hard.

8 hour timers might help me at least be interested in them.

I just wrote 1,349 words on why I'm not playing anymore, but I'm not going to post them publicly because everyone here probably already knows that I have a brevity problem.

    Please? I am interested.

Heh, some of us can and will read. If its meaty content and it'll make you feel better, feel free to post it! You're a former mod, someone who obviously once loved the game. Your input would be valued.

Unless the reason is "I tired of game/I have more going on in life" (which won't be over a thousand words) I think history shows you probably can't write a diatribe of why you quit (i.e.: problems with the game) and still be a mod in good standing.

    I'd read it.

    well, here's the short version:

I never liked f2p games as a business model, but I got sucked into this one because of the Puzzle Quest legacy and Marvel license, and I did enjoy it for quite a while, but it started to feel like a routine more than a pastime. The struggle for 4* Thor in her PvE release was the beginning of the end for me, and I probably won't play casually because I know I'll just ramp back up again. Like most f2p games, there's an element of design in leading people on and I started to resent that. And I still think competitive pve is a broken idea.

That's the gist of it, more or less.

Aaawww, now I want to play again. icon_e_biggrin.gif

It really was the few players that I'd been in Alliances with for over a year now that have kept me going. The constant chatter and support, even for real life issues, far exceeds any new 3* cover. They are what kept me pushing to PvP mins and getting those few extra clears in PvE even when I didn't need the covers. I will miss that. The change in PvE to 8 hour refreshes is a start in the right direction. The one true thing that will get me back in a big way is if they finally do something about the iso trickle. The fact that after a year + you can still fight a lvl 300+ Juggs and be "rewarded" with 20 iso is insulting.
  • That does raise the unanswered questions:

Why are pves actually pvp in story mode wolf clothing?

Most people who play don't get overly stingy rewards in pvp and pve, so why do they play when they get no pay off?
