QUESTION - How to get top 1-5?

So I came back after several months of inactivity - I have 9 or 10 lvl 166s and pretty much all the 2*'s. However it seems now that anyone without Thoress and Xforce 270 I have a big "KICK ME - I AM STUPID" sign on my back...
I do have a fully covered XF but need mounds of ISO to level him up. But how to get other 4*'s? Especially Thoress?
I need level 270's to get top 1-5, but to get them, I first need to be 1-5 _-_
I need ISO for XF, but greatest rewards are 1-5 and I need to boost to even have a chance at beating those 2* 270s (which takes so much time that I get pounded 2-3 times when I get out)

So first definatly start putting ISO into X-Force and have him 5,5,3. X-Force will be really solid from level 200 on so If you stop after level 200 for a while you should be fine. My favorite partner for hopping and over 600 points is Hood X-Force as I do not have 4Thor. If you are looking to hit 1300 progression to earn 4$ characters it is now a lot more difficult and you need to start planning 24-35 hours in advance. You should join time slice 4 or 5 climb up to 800+ and shield. From there you need to line up 2 maybe 3 opponents at a time to shield hop. You have to remember that each shield has an 8 hour cool down. So use a 3 hour shield then hop and use a 8 hour shield, wait close to 8 hours and go again. You can do this to 1300 points. Expect to use 600-1000+ HP in hopping to get to 1300.
Option 2 is to try and place top 5. First join slice 1-3. You can usually climb to 600 points no problem and not use shields. With under 11 hours left use your X-Force and Hood to climb to 800+ points and use a 8 hour shield. With 3 hours left have 3 people lined up worth big points us AP boosts +2 Green Black and if you have a good buffed character you can boost to help him if you want. There are a lot of people running 4Thor now so Hood can steal a lot of AP and you don't take much damage. Try and win 2-4 matches depending on where you are at. If you can get to 900 points you should be in top 5 at this point. After you make the push place a 3 hour shield. Line up 2-3 opponents at this time. With 5-7 min left if you are out of top 5 but close you can break sheild and attack. Sometimes you get hit and sometimes you don't. This can be a high risk high reward jump that can sneek you into the top 5 and get you the 3rd 3* cover. If you want to compete for 1st place in PVP you might need start 2-3 hours earlier and use a 3hr shield to start. Last 3 PVP's with the new shield cool downs this has been my strategy and I have been top 5 each time. 1st place has been in the 1000 mark but I have wanted to only use 2 shields so I did not push for top spot.
If you are looking for top spot in PVE that is super grindy and you just need to start right away, and play every 3 hours, don't sleep much, and don't have a life.

Yup, xforce is the key, gotta boost him up. Dont worry about placement, covers, etc., iso is the best thing for you now. I was in the same boat as you about 2 months ago, focused purely on maxing xforce, i used xforce/daken until hood was ready, but just a xforce alone will level the playing field alot. Once you get hood maxed with 553...you xan beat any roster out there. I dont have 4thor either, but beat her, xforce and featured all the time because you have to in order to get by the wall.0

For PvP you got to not be outspend by whoever is #2 and with the shield changes you also have to plan everything out fairly methodically because it's almost impossible to make up a large deficit by throwing money at it due to the cooldown.
For PvE you've to hope you don't have two or more guys in your bracket that doesn't sleep, unless you don't need sleep yourself. Failing that, you can hope aliens will abduct everyone in front of you during the last day, since that's what it takes to make up a deficit in PvE.0
