I think that we should be able to share rewards and covers with my alliance. Since we get practically nothing for selling covers, I want to be able to offer my unwanted covers to newbs in my alliance to maybe be sable to get higher alliance rewards. Or at least an auction house where players can sell there covers for HP or ISO. That would be sweet as well. But def share rewards with alliance bc not all my Facebook friends play MPQ.

I would be very wary if I am the one to implement it.
Because it is potentially a can of worms that no one has complete control of how it will evolve, very probably in the direction of real life monetory trades. It's like paying someone else to take a test for you.
1* player but really want X-Force? Pay a vet to shield hop to that 1300pts reward then buy it from them. Brings a new dimension to 'PVE/P merc'. Forget 1-2* and 2-3* and 3-4* transition, this makes it possible to do 1-4* transition.
I'm fine with the developers being the 'sole authorised dealer' of covers, but already having the monopoly, it would be a graceful gesture to improve the sell back prices, such as bringing back the 25HP sell back for 3* covers.0 -
it would also be nice to send a 3* cover you won through facebook. it would be amazing instead of increase critical tile boost0

If the biggest profit D3 or Demiurge makes is from selling covers, why would they implement this?
If you spend some time to analyze this you will find out, that covers which are the most lucrative are also the hardest to get (as example Hood blue, BP black, or recently Doom purple etc.). You can even take the calculator and make a cover distribution curve taking into consideration the fact that top 100 finishers gets cover of one color (+alliance top 100 get additional of the same color), but only top25 get a second cover of different color and only the top top players gets the last coloured cover. People don't wish to wait for covers drops therefore they buy them. Now imagine that you give the player base possibility to earn those missing lucrative covers without any significant investment?
Of course the thing about auction may be working for d3 if prepared well, but I can imagine it will be impacting their servers performance so significantly, that it may not be worth the investment.0 -
I thought about this clearing/auction system before and it seems like a big downside for d3. If covers end up selling at less than the current HP prices then they're losing money and if they cost more, why would anyone buy them. Assuming you can sell/trade unwanted covers the supply increases, demand stays the same and the price has to drop.
While it would be potentially useful for the player base it's difficult to see how it makes commercial sense. The current model keeps the value high and the tills ringing.0 -
Most in game auction houses will always take a cut and it would really change the economy, if there was an auction and covers sold close to their actual value the number of transactions would skyrocket and while d3 may get less per transaction they may earn far more overall.
I could see d3 allowing people to buy and sell covers but take a 90% cut out of the transaction. So the seller might get 100 HP for a cover someone bought at 1000. First covers for new characters may go for MUCH higher than expected and "buying" covers would become an everyday thing.
This would be different, and many more people could get covers they want without it being like pulling teeth. And the great ISO drought would begin as it would be the real limiting factor to leveling.0 -
I think that if people had a better chance at getting covers they want then they might spend extra money for roster slots and what not. I just feel like rewards I can't use become a punishment, and less like a reward. I constantly check rosters for people I fight in tourneys and nice a lot of grinders don't need the covers when winning first place, so it kinda takes poss rewards away from me.
At least alliance sharing. I have a daredevil that I don't want and I know people in my alliance could use it.
Imagine going to work and your boss giving you your paycheck, but instead pays you in gift certificates bc they want you to spend your money the way they want. I feel like D3 has just gotten way too greedy with the selling of covers, like removing the HP you get for selling certain covers while keeping the image for HP on cover sales but just say 0, makes me feel like they are laughing at me.
Plus, people might purchase more HP if they could auction house specific covers, so it really seems like it could actually help D3's personal economy if there were more things that you could spend HP on, other than random tokens (which a lot of people feel are not worthwhile) or roster slots (which every good guide tells you to only spend HP on slots).0 -
My take on this idea would allow for the ability to trade covers waiting in the "claim your rewards" menu. There could also be a rule that you cannot trade covers of a different star rarity (no bag-man for x-force). This would significantly help players in the 2-3 star transition by allowing them to focus on certain characters.0
