The Hood will be my first completely covered 3*, who next?

The Hood will be my first 3 Star I completely cover max. Until I have a couple more, I'll hold him at level 94, though. After I complete him, who's next?

Let's use 2 hypotheticals - in the first, I can choose from any 3*, even those vaulted, to cover out after the Hood. Who would you say pairs best with him out of all Heroes? In the second hypothetical, I have to choose between the following
-Human Torch
-Patch
-Hulk
-Deadpool
-Sentry
-Gamora
-Captain America
-Blade
-Colossus
-Dr Doom
-Luke Cage
-The Punisher
-Rocket and Groot

Everyone runs well with Hood, but my personal favorite is Captain America. Cap is slow to get going, but once he gets there he is a steamroller. Hood gets him there much more quickly, and then Intimidation mixed with Cap's countdown tiles makes a perma-stun possible late in the game, which you do 4K damage every couple of turns with Cap's red. Neither one uses green so it is easy to add a third offensive powerhouse to the team.
  • Out of everyone? Lazy Thor. Out of your list? Probably Cap.

Yeah, The Hood basically is good with everyone. If you've got powers that take a lot of AP, The Hood gets you there faster. If you have powers that don't cost a lot of AP, The Hood helps you spam them faster.

Human Torch - Can play well with his Green and lets you drop off Fireballs like nobodies business. Lets you get Black off sooner, too, but Black drains other pools so can be counterproductive too, but not really more than usual.

Patch - Can cover Yellow for The Hood, but other than fueling his abilities faster, he doesn't bring much extra to the plate. Patch is generally just a True Healing meatshield with a decent finisher (and a good comeback in TBTI), extra AP doesn't really do much for this guy.

Hulk - Hulk is basically only good because of his health and his passive, so The Hood doesn't really bring much to the table unless you're using The Hulk for board shakeup. The Hulk can cover Black for him, though.

Deadpool - I really like this combination, tbh, since it lets you go ham with ALOtT, as well as Deadpool being able to cover Black and Life of the Party able to keep Hood shielded.

Sentry - Sentry covers Yellow for Hood, but otherwise, Sentry is just not a bread winner these days. I would avoid this one.

Gamora - I haven't played much with her, but her damage ratios seem way to low to be worth while, but Hood will let her spam her abilities faster than normal. Being able to spam down her Red with a single match could work out decently. If you paired them with Daken, you could put out some pain, but this would be a B PvE team (Falcon being infinitely better than Gamora with Daken).

Captain America - Like the guy above mentioned, Captain America is a real champ, especially in PvE, with The Hood, since you can practically infinitely loop his Red and Blue abilities.

Blade - Blade really shines because of the combination of his Passive Green and his active Purple, and while The Hood can get his Purple going faster (and Blade can cover Black for The Hood), they're both very squish, so you wouldn't use this composition outside of PvE. On the other hand, if you maxed his passive and his black, you could use The Hood to milk the AP denial of Blade's Black, but it's still not something you'd use outside of PvE.

Colossus - He can cover Black and Yellow for Hood, and can let him spam his Yellow faster, but honestly, not the greatest combination. One could argue that it lets him use Fastball Special quicker, but honestly, I wouldn't want him throwing The Hood, so yeah.

Dr Doom - Being able to cover Black and Blue for The Hood is pretty cool, especially since Doom is relatively tanky. As well as making his Blue pretty spamable, which in turn makes his Black pretty spamable. Good, but gimmicky imo. It kind of makes his Purple more playable, though, since you don't have to match as much Purples to activate the ability. Still, gimmicky.

Luke Cage - I like the idea of him covering Black and Yellow for The Hood. I also like the idea of a faster double activation of Luke's Black. I like it, but not premier.

The Punisher - Yes. It makes all of his abilities pretty spamable, since you can generally get any of them in two matches. That being said, Punisher's damage is outclassed but a lot of other characters these days, so there's that.

Rocket and Groot - Doesn't honestly feel like he'll bring much to the table for R&G. His green is okay. His Blue is going to force The Hood out for the match, nine times out of ten.

@GothicKratos - I don't know how some of those guys you said would be covering yellow for Hood. It's his highest match color so only guys like Cap, R&G, Luke Cage, and Colossus (and BP, who covers him in all colors, but wasn't anywhere on the list) will be covering Yellow for him unless you leave him purposefully under leveled, which most people advise against since his health is already quite low.

As for the question I agree with Mau that Lazy Thor is probably the best 3* to pair with Hood, and I might put cMags up near the top too because of the nice synergy with his red power. BP might be high up on the list too cause he's a high tier guy and will cover Hood so he's not taking much damage. However this could be pretty bad if the featured char is under leveled or doesn't cover many other colors. Also agree with Mau that from your list LCap is going to be best. You might not even speed up your powers all that much, but you'll steal other colors to keep the opps from getting any abilities off, which mitigates the slowness of LCap somewhat since you're mostly only taking match damage. I'd probably put Doom 2nd since he's also a bit tanky and covers black and blue for hood as was mentioned. Luke Cage could actually be a fantastic pairing since his protect tile will protect from almost all match-3 damage, and hood tends to keep opponents off of enough ap for abilities. It's just not a very high-damage output team, so I can't fully recommend it.
  • You have hood max covered, but do you have the correct build, with five blue?

5/5/3. There'd be no point in anything that wasn't 5 blue.
  • After this Hood "nerf" is he still one of the most needed chars?

With Patch, Blade, LCap, Loki maxed out...would it be better to max out Hood or Mystique next? I don't have covers for Xforce, Ldaken, or LThor.

Full 2* roster (MN mags for the Mystique combo) and PVP ~700 pts as the goal.

Yes. They didn't touch his blue, which was his OP ability all along. I think a reasonable Nerf for that would be to make it like Falcon's blue, where you must stockpile a certain amount of blue AP to trigger it.

The Nerf they did was to prevent infinite combos with Thor:GoT.

This x2. After Lazy Thor and Lazy Cap I'd have to say Blade or Lazy Daken.

Hood is still extremely useful as a support character and the nerf bat didn't hurt that much if you go with 5/5/3. Mystique is fun, but she usually ends up tanking too many colors so you'll burn through health packs fast. She's nice to have if you have a deep 3* roster but she's not a character that you can climb PvP events efficiently.

Hood goes well with everyone, but especially well with Captain America. After that, you need a green and/or purple user.

Why would you ever use The Hood with Daken? Unless it's PvE and you're using Falcon and even then, Blade or Thor would be infinitely better.
  • Deadpool, Lcap, Rocket&Groot have good color combos and reasonable health.
Hood strikes with yellow and black, deadpool can protect and has strong active red and pink. Lcap is beefy and has good actives too. R&G can heal and has active green and blue.
I wouldn't spend money on any of them though, just keep playing and see what you come across.
Your goal is x or thora anyway.
