Shielded losses not offering retaliations?

I shielded last night, and had four losses overnight, but no retaliation options.

Is this the way it has always been, and I just never noticed? I swear I used to be able to retaliate against those that hit me over night.

That's how it's always been. You don't lose points, and you can't retaliate. Been like that since shields were introduced, I think (but definitely from soon after if not).

Thanks! I have rarely used a full day shield, so I must never have noticed.
