Unbiased Shield Poll
The only other shield poll I have seen was rather biased, so I wanted to create one that shows players and Devs how the shield update is affecting paying and non paying players. Obviously, this game needs money to run ad free, so I would like to see the spread on paying, semi paying, and free players. I strongly believe that d3p has taken away any want to buy hp, as covers are easily obtainable in the long run, and buying ISO is still a joke. I am curious to see if anyone is even still willing to buy hp after this, so place your votes, and let's see if we can figure out exactly how people are reacting. I could be wrong, and this update might be what MPQ players were looking for.
Failed to load the poll.

i usually buy 2 starks each time they run a sale. I havent purchased any in at least 5 weeks. i wont be spending any more $ on this game. Im just using what HP i have left and then will probably stop playing.

Not voting yet because the full impact of these changes are still unknown. They've been clear about this being in the testing stages. Why threaten to quit/stop support based on the first test event alone?
Suppose they reduce 1300 prog to 1000 and the 1100 prog to 800 as a result of the internal numbers from 2 weeks of testing. This would no doubt impact some people's opinion on the feature as a whole.
If this first stab at testing the change turns out to be the final released version of the feature than here's my vote: "I occasionally buy HP, I don't mind the change, I have no plans immediate plans to change my spending habits"0 -
What about "I don't buy hp, I only shield at the end of events, I haven't and probably will never notice any difference?"0

I actually assumed that there would be one 8 hour cooldown for all the shields, killing shield hopping entirely. It would have probably evened the playing field for those with large hp stashes and those without.
Although admittedly, I do think shield hopping is an interesting mechanic.... maybe they can do separate events with unlimited shield hopping or something.0 -
I have 12k HP in the bank and nowhere to spend it. MPQ insists we play the game less and spend less money. No shield hopping = Destruction of PVPs mechanics and fun. No matter how you arrange you the progression rewards it's a poor move. I can think of at least 10 superior ways to make the game better without touching the shield system.0

It's too soon for me to come to a conclusion.
That said, lower progressives as promised or remove cool downs.
Or both0 -
Not looking at hp, i think the cooldown slows the game down.
It was a lot more fun without cooldown.0 -
Just go back to the old shield system and have anyone that scores above 1500 points stay at 1500 for the PVP final result. Meaning that they can get 2000 3000 or whatever they want but only 1500 points will be counted. That way no more tweaking to any mechanics will be needed.0

Especially if there is the predicted storm of new 4 stars happening this year, then these same kinds of changes will have to be made anyway to accommodate for 4 stars being more common. They probably shouldn't have put the shield change into effect without other changes also being ready, but it seems pretty likely that this is the first step in a series of changes. Have to wait and see and adapt like usual.0 -
Shields (for purchase) are dumb. They are one of many things in this "game" that imo disqualify this as a game and make it more of an entertainment service we can purchase. What I despise is playing an unbalanced "game". It's **** to have money players competing against non money players. That's why it's not a game and shouldn't be classified as one.
That aside I really enjoy this entertainment service despite it's flaws. I've been active for 428 days and probably wont stop anytime soon.
I'm in the category of I occasionally buy a shield for the last 1-3 hours (with HP I've earned) and never ever do any hopping so I probably will never see the difference.0 -
The people at the top are not really impacted by this change. They already have level 270 XForce and Thoress, and no one is going to bother attacking them no matter how many points they are worth until they are past the 700 point mark and near the end of the event. They don't really need to shield until 700 or so. The people impacted by this the most are the mid-tier players, such as myself. I have every character, and a bunch fully covered, but the highest level I have is 127. Now, because of the changes, the scores seem to be clustered a lot more once you get past those level 270 players. For the first time ever, during my climb today I saw maxed out teams of XForce/Thoress at a little before 600 points, no matter how many I skipped. People kept attacking me while I was unshielded, but I had no one I could beat. The elite players didn't bother shielding because they didn't need to, since people like me won't attack them since we wouldn't stand a chance. So rather than being in a pool of players to attack that are around the same level, or maybe level 166 3 stars, I am now in the pool with level 270s. I am not sure exactly how the shield change has caused this, but I think it is making people stay unshielded longer before the end.0

This really should have been 2 polls, one for opinion of the shield change and another for how it will affect hp spending.
I occasionally buy hp, I don't mind the shield change, and I'm not going to change my spending habits, but voted for the option where it said I would.0
