Feedback Wanted: Non-English MPQ Text

Hello everyone,

We'd like to have your feedback if you are a Marvel Puzzle Quest player who plays the game in any of the non-English languages currently available;
FRENCH, ITALIAN, GERMAN, SPANISH, JAPANESE, KOREAN.

If you play MPQ in any of the above-mentioned languages:

What is your assessment of the translation?

Is the text understandable and accurate? Have you noticed any small or glaring errors in the text?

Is there anything that stands out as poorly-translated or culturally awkward?

Most of it is out of date.

Patch Red however still makes absolutely no sense.

Falcon Yellow still reads that it improves my tiles by 49% which is VERY confusing.

There are 3 categories of "not translated". Ability name, ability description and the level up description. I'll point out some I can find on a quick glance.

Hood blue description isnt translated. The other 2 are.

Doom black and purple descriptions arent translated.

Colossus Yellow isnt translated.

Deadpool Red description isnt translated. Black levelup description isnt translated.

Electra descriptions aren't translated. Names and level-ups are.

Loki green description not translated. Level up is translated.

Luke Cage red and black description aren't translated.

Those are not all of them. I just went over my roster quickly. I'm sure I missed several. Your QA people should be more suited to track down missing translations.
What's to note here is I don't mind if a character isn't translated until some time in the future. But what's peculiar is the inconsistency in that a character will have translated and untranslated abilities at the same time.

Here is also my Event description for the Earth's Mighties tournament.



You'll notice it has the old description and it doesn't include 4hor and some other characters.


I personally don't care which language I play in but in actuality I am playing some weird german-english hybrid. Most of these are cosmetic but I also mentioned some gameplay elements that are translated wrongly. Those you NEED to fix.

I'm a French speaker
Sometimes I found some sentences to be poorly translated in the characters' dialogues, generally it was some kind of joke, but I don't remember any really striking mistake.

But if I can so easily compare French and English texts it's because sometimes the text is in French and sometimes not. It happened for dialogues and for power description. So I'd say that my primary concern about the translation is that it is ... intermittent!

In the future, I'll look more attentively at the French text for potential errors

Hi, I play the game in spanish mostly because steam doesn't have the option to change the language again. I started to play it in english but it changed to spanish when you did the translation.

I don't like the translation, theres a lot of things that are half translated and some of them aren't accurate, although is good enough to be understandable and I thank you for the effort, thanks to that my father can play and understand the game. I'll pay attention at the text to be able to give more precise feedback

En Steam te pones sobre el juego y le das click derecho--->Propiedades de ahi veras varias pestañas la 4ta pestaña es idiomas ahi seleccionas : "English (ingles)" ya ya queda el Juego en Ingles.

I play in german and it's terrible.
I appreciate the effort but please put your time and manpower elsewhere and just give us an option to play in english.

If there is already an option it would be nice to know. I asked a couple of months ago (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17933&hilit=language+options) without results but maybe things changed and I just didn't notice.

French :

événement instead of évènement - common spelling mistake made by the French themselves.

récupère instead of récupére (token pop up). However, it should be more logical to write : récupérer (to retrieve) or récupérez ! (retrieve (respectful) !) or récupère ! (friendly way, but sounds weird, because it should be "récupère le" : retrieve it)

Hi, I'm a Spanish player and I 'm sorry to say that the translation is disappointing. It seems a copy-paste from Google translator, a word-by-word translation.

Verbs are not conjugated properly; colloquial expressions are meaningless when translated, they have to be culturally adapted.

In Spain, several heroes/villians names are translated too (Thor is Thor, Hulk is Hulk, but Wolverine is "Lobezno" or Storm is "Tormenta")

And there are some abilities descriptions and PvE dialogs that are not translated yet.

If you want I can help with the Spanish transaltion, I have collaborated previously with the translation of several games and applications. I wrote an email months ago (before knowing of the existence of this forum) offering to help but I get no answer, perhaps I wrote to a wrong address.

Anyway, let me know if I can be useful.

I am also a spanish player; when I started playing I found translation horrible and switched swiftly to english; will have a look to spanish version for some feedback.

The german translation is horrible, there are so many story conversations that are not or only partly translated. Same is true for abilities, there are descriptions for abilities that are translated, but the next rank isn't and the next one again is translated. Also, sometimes translation doesn't fit into the text box and you miss the actual damage an ability does (2* magneto red for example). All this is a real problem when new events and characters are introduced. Then most of the fun, lore and information is missed due to poor translation. And it really kills the atmosphere when you're reading a new story, one character always speaks in german, and the other always answers in english.

But the worst thing is, that still no one changed the text when you do an "illegal" move. In english, i guess (don't know, actually), it says "No Match", but in german it says "Kein Gegner", which translates to "no enemy". I don't think you could possibly mean this!

I cannot provide exact details to what conversation parts or ability descriptions (other than magneto) aren't translated at all or only poorly translated, but there are more than one would think. I really hope you add an option to switch to english language, because it would be the easiest way for people capable of understand english (other than switching the device, which I don't want to).

The only way I found to play in English on an iOS device is changing the global language. But that is inconvenient if you don't want to use your device in English otherwise. An in game option would be really nice. Most alliances use English as the primary language. As a non English player you need to know all English terms anyway to reasonably communicate .

For French here.

There is the occasional mistake, but on the whole the guy doing the translation is doing an unexpectedly good job.

As for untranslated elements, I guess you know where they are.


A thing to correct :
Goddess Thor's red "Smite" and Punisher's red "Retribution" have the same translation "Châtiment".

In Deadpool's event the node 'heroes of Logan' is mislabelled in French 'Héors de Logan' instead of 'Héros de Logan'

Hi there!

I'm an Italian player.

There quite a huge amount of:
- poor translations
- missing translations
- grammar errors
- entire no sense descriptions/dialogues.

I find quite obnoxious playing the game in Italian as reading the Italian sentences is really a pain the way it has been done.
