Invisible Woman!
4-star heroes are intended to be formidable, end-game caliber opponents. Prior to this revision, Invisible Woman (one of the most powerful heroes in Marvel canon) wasn't fulfilling her role, or rating, as intended. Did somebody call her bag-lady ?
This tuneup should help establish her as a legendary team-mate.
For context, there's some brief analysis after each ability. It isn't intended to be bulletproof!
Note:
• Damage/strength stats might not be 100% accurate given algorithmic complexity in the game
• Damage/strength/upgrade stats are all based on a Level 1 (Effective Level 30) Invisible Woman.
• Legendary heroes are intended to separate themselves at higher levels, they aren't necessarily more powerful vs. heroes of the same Effective Level. Stats scale considerably as Invisible Woman levels/skills up.
Old Grant Invisibility
• Turned a chosen basic yellow tile into an Invisibility tile that prevented the weakest member of the team from being targeted.
Cost: 23 AP
Upgrades:
• Level 2: 22 AP
• Level 3: 21 AP
• Level 4: 20 AP
• Level 5: 19 AP
New Grant Invisibility
• Turns a random basic yellow tile into an Invisibility tile that prevents the weakest member of the team from being targeted.
Cost: 18 AP
Upgrades:
• Level 2: 17 AP
• Level 3: 16 AP
• Level 4: 15 AP
• Level 5: 14 AP
Analysis: Tough ability to cost given it can lead to match invulnerability. While 23 AP captured the power of the ability, it compromised its utility simply because you couldn't use it enough. That's ok to some degree, it's conceptually an 'uh-oh, stuff's gone wrong' type power, but not this much. Changed it to randomly place the Invis tile, which should keep it a bit more honest. This allows us to reduce the base cost by 5. We'll be watching this closely; there are fine lines between useless/useful/over-performing.
Old Force Bubbles
• Locked 1 chosen tile
• Locked 1 additional tile for every 10 tiles bearing IW's symbol.
Cost: 14 AP
Upgrades:
• Level 2: +1 for every 9
• Level 3: +1 for every 8
• Level 4: +1 for every 7
• Level 5: +1 for every 6
New Force Bubbles
• Locks 2 chosen tiles
• Randomly places a Blue Protect tile with a strength of 42.
Cost: 13 AP
Upgrades:
• Level 2: Locks 5 chosen tiles
• Level 3: Increases Protect tile strength to 92
• Level 4: Locks 8 chosen tiles
• Level 5: Increases Protect tile strength to 185
Analysis: Relying on tile ownership to control the number of locked tiles meant she had to be in front. Not good given that she doesn't have any burly green skin or sweet future-tech armor. Changed to keep the number of tiles static per-upgrade level so it's more dependable (and she doesn't have to be in harm's way). Added a Protect tile to help fill the ability out. Given her 4-star status, the tile scales up in an awesome way. Was over-costed - it's now more powerful, easier to sue, and 1 AP cheaper.
Old Force Field Crush
• Unlocked 1 random Force Bubble, destroying the 9 surrounding tiles (dealing damage & generating AP).
• If there weren't any Force Bubbles, created 1 in a random location.
• Ends the turn
Cost: 12 AP
Upgrades:
• Level 2: Creates 2 Force Bubbles
• Level 3: Targets up to 2 Force Bubbles
• Level 4: Creates 3 Force Bubbles
• Level 5: Targets up to 3 Force Bubbles
New Force Field Crush
• Unlocks 1 random Force Bubble, destroying the 9 surrounding tiles (dealing damage & generating AP).
• Does 42 damage for each Force Bubble unlocked
• If there aren't any Force Bubbles, creates 1 in a random location.
• Ends the turn
Cost: 9 AP
Upgrades:
• Level 2: Unlocks or places 2 Force Bubbles
• Level 3: Each unlocked Force Bubble does 84 damage
• Level 4: Unlocks or places 3 Force Bubbles
• Level 5: Each unlocked Force Bubble does 168 damage
Analysis: Was under-powered and the progression curve lacked 4-star grunt. Added flat damage for each force bubble collapsed (she's a utility hero, but now she can punch). Reduced AP cost by 3 so this can be used more regularly. Hope is that some fun synergy emerges between this and her blue ability.
We look forward to reading your thoughts on these changes on the forums in the upcoming days/weeks.
Thanks!
