PVP Etiquette

Is it bad form to repeatedly attack the same person over and over again.

If I'm still seeing the same guy at 1800 that I saw at 1000, then he must have a shield right? So no harm no foul?

  • Attack whoever you want however many times you like.
  • Naw. We're all in the same boat together with this system.

That guy probably attacked someone 5 times consecutively on his way up to that position.

    Consider it MPQ karma.
  • At high levels where there are a lot of shielded people, it seems a pretty bad thing to attack someone repeatedly that isn't shielded. I hate those people.
  • Yeah, if their rating stays the same after I hit them once or twice, to me that means they are shielded and I go to town. If they have a relatively "easy" team at a higher level, say 1000+ in these Hulk Smash tournies. I'll try to resist.... but if all i'm seeing are 100+ covers then chances are i'll be farming that guy with the "easy" team icon_e_sad.gif I'm a **** ;_;

Sometimes your MMR just doesn't want to give you anyone else
  • The one 'etiquette' thing I do is if someone is near a significant point plateau (like 1100 or 1300 in the old system), I would queue them up and then go attack someone else. Giving them enough time to reach that mark before my hit would bring them down.
  • Well, if y'all didn't have shields I'd like to apologize to:

Gumisk, Xavieres, and Hulk Rt... I pounded on you guys all weekend relentlessly.

It was for a good cause though... Got 1st in my table and all the progression rewards.

Following the old adage, better to seek forgiveness than ask for permission. haha. I love it icon_e_smile.gif

I never paid much mind to that... will definitely give a break to the guys sitting at thresholds with the hopes that maybe some of that kharma will come back to me when I'm chasing that Blck hulk cover.
  • I consider it extremely rude if you don't hit my tank team at least 2 times. icon_e_wink.gif

Once you're in the higher point values (say 1200+), I consider it bad etiquette to attack someone who is obviously unshielded (say 1570 when theres a 1600 prog reward).

That's not necessarily indicative of them not being shielded. Because 1) points shown from the fight screen lag, sometimes by hours. 2) unless it's at that particular point (a few points away from the max prog. award), they could have still decided to stop.

Hell, with how much the points shown lag, you might be able to fight them, and find them again before the lost points show up

Ah, I didn't know the lag was that significant.
  • it's competition? wha t etiquette? everyone for himself. i choose to battle high point player. so he does't want to retaliate against underscored me. that's just tactic to gain higher point and don't lose much point. and frankly i never pay attention to whom i fight. i never remember most of them, except some from the forum.
    WHY SO SERIOOUS??
  • At the screen where I select and/or skip opponents, how do I know if he is shielded at that point of time?
  • I try to hit shielded people as much as possible. That being said, if someone gets stuck in my skip queue and is my only decent point option, and it's between me and a cover I really need or want I'm not above farming someone unshielded.

It's happened to me several times so far in the second Hulk event, and I don't take it personally at all. Besides, it usually only takes 3 (maybe 4) wins on someone to push your score enough that new opponents start showing up and it's more profitable to hit the new targets.
