Returning player, roster advice

edited January 2015 in MPQ Tips and Guides
I just returned to MPQ after a big hiatus. I started playing right when the game came out, then burned out pretty quickly. I left before the "True Healing" change. I've been happy getting back into the game, but I'm a little unsure which direction to go with my roster.

I'm stuck in the 300-400 points range for PvP events, and I vary wildly in placement for the PvE events. I've got what I think might be a solid start to a roster, but I'm not sure where to go now. Looking at my covers below, where do people think I should be investing my time and effort? What covers should I be going for if they come up in events? Is there any way for me to break out of ** rewards land with what I have right now? Thanks!

Usable Covers right now

Do not level GSBW, Spider-man or Hood at this point. All three are excellent support, but they can't front your team in PvP - they might work decently in PvE though. Focus on the two-stars for now - Thor, OBW, Daken and Wolverine maxed are an excellent start. You'll probably want to max Ares when you get the covers as he is excellent on defense in PvP. Lil Torch could also play well with your other two-stars, so feel free to level him when Ares is done.
Look through NorthernPolarity's transition guide that's stickied here. When you have 10 covers in one of the top characters on that list, that's when you should start pouring ISO into them.

So a couple of things here:
    1. GSBW will let you kill other, higher leveled teams in PvP. Deceptive tactics into sniper rifle does insane amounts of damage. The problem is that she is just straight up miserable on defense, so the normal benefits you get of having a 166 3* (2* guys won't attack you as much) is just not really there since GSBW will get you actively focused on since she's literally the worst character on offense probably.
    2. Maxing out a guy means dealing with horrible PvE scaling. Normally this is worth it if your guy will help you a lot in PvP since more PvP covers is worth having worse PvE scaling since there are more PvPs than PvEs, but again, GSBW doesn't really fit that well.

I'd just hoard iso until you get a 3* that can carry you in PvP.
  • Thanks for the advice. So I'm assuming that (from your guide) the 3*'s that will be able to carry in me in PvP are ones like LazyThor, Classic Daken, basically any of the 'high tier' 3* chars?
