The Ability to Respec Characters.

I never thought that this would be an issue for me but, given the nerfs to come, do you believe that this will become a bigger deal?

Since I discovered we were stuck with character builds, I have very carefully planned out which covers to use and sold the rest and now most of my characters are set in stone. The ones I specced incorrectly, well, I just dealt with it and never complained as that was my fault for not doing prior research.

I don't see building entirely new characters based on how they are nerfed of buffed simply because I have invested so much time and effort into earning and distributing particular covers already.

What do you all think?

I apologize if I missed another post on this topic and I made a new post because of all of the impending nerfs and buffs that will inevitably effect those who are long time players and have already assigned all of the possible covers to many characters. icon_e_smile.gif

  • Saw a similar post on the second page. Nevermind. icon_lol.gif *Puts hands in pockets, whistles, and backs slowly away from the post.*

You mean you actually want the devs to listen to what we want and actually give it to us!?

    What a sacrilege!

I know, I know. Naive of me. icon_lol.gif

I am one of those people who try to remain optimistic even when it seems like a lot of people are getting totally screwed over, including me. I mean, maybe they will see that dedicated players are leaving and realize the error of their ways? *Hopeful.*

Probably not but, I'm trying to give love a chance before I throw the towel in for good. icon_e_wink.gif
  • "Why don't we have respec?" seems to have been a recurring topic since (before?) launch.

Don't remember who made it, but I read a suggestion on here that you should simply still be able to assign cached covers to characters at 13/13, and when you do it'd prompt you to select one of the other two skills to remove a level from. This seems by far the most elegant solution. It retains the need to find the covers you want, preserving rarity (intentional or not) of stuff like OBW's black, but avoids any issues like fluctuating max level that more arbitrary respec could introduce. Only clear downside is if the developer actually wants people unhappy with their spec to have to rebuild from nothing at enormous expense.
  • Developers have already confirmed it's on the todo list but no guarantee of how or when yet.
  • I just hope they ask for our opinions on the next nerf instead of it being a surprise. icon_redface.gif

Opinion of everyone using the character to be nerfed 'No don't!'

Opinion of everyone not using the character to be nerfed 'OK'
  • It would be nice, but not really a priority option, I think.

The devs most certainly have a priority list, and this is undoubtedly on it. But the balancing of the game and making sure current systems work correctly, especially without any major babysitting is a much bigger and more impact full issue at hand.

So, yes, a respec option would be welcome, but it's not something that warrants demanding of it in the current environment.
  • This reminds me of the back and forth that spooled up each week while playing Mass Effect's online multiplayer as the dev's poked and tweaked weapons and maps...

And then we have this issuse. People already know who needs to nerfed and re-done. Regardless if you have the character or not. No one character should be dominating a game except a 4* and the 4* SUCK bad. That's why we all need to come to an agreement on progression and stop being so boxed and basic.
  • Respec would be nice, but then once we have 1 set for a character, we would move on. This shortens the life of the game. Then again, I've always hated the randomness of the cards haha but it's a mechanic ive adapted to (by buying a tonne of char slots with pve HP haha).
