Laken + Patch
I know that laken + patch is considered on of the best pvp climbing teams just due to their true healing. but how would you build them if you only intend to play them side by side? I see a lot of argument about patch being 5/3/5 or 4/4/5 and laken being 5/5/3 or 5/5/4. I only have laken (currently at 5/4/4) and will only have patch covers as of the end of this PVE but i was just wondering if people think there is an optimal build when you are playing them together.
Also related what do you focus on with the two of them? would you concentrate on firing off patches red or his green? do you just hold laken blue for a killing blow so as to not risk losing the patch strike tiles? when do you fire off patches green? do you wait for something or just fire it as soon as possible?

It is 2 different items Patch and Daken. First it is what you are planning on using them for. It sound like you are planing on using them for non stop play with true healing. So I will look at it this way.
Patch: 5 in yellow is a must, but green and red are dependent on where you are at in the game. If Patch is tanking up to 4, 5 in red will be sweet becuase he will basicly one shot some one. If he is only going to tank 3 colors his red loses some of its punch and 5 in green would be better served. I have personally always gone 5,3,5 becuase 5 in green gives you 6 strike tiles, and I can usually set up the board to destroy 2-3 of the purple ones right away. This can also make him a beast in PVE with OBW or Psylock as you can double dip on the strike tiles while the goons just CD and don't make a match. You have to be smart when playing 5 in green and not just throw it down otherwise you will take some real damage. You want to go 5 in either red or green and I have found that it is just too much of a pain to collect enough red for TBTI all the time. 5 in green is faster and will do more consistant damage.
LDaken: So you want 5,5,3 or 5,4,4. 4 in blue can be nice becuase it does more damage, but it opens you up to being effected by heat and losing health. I have LDaken at 5,5,3 and at 3 blue he still does around 2k damage. If you Berseker rage first at level 3 blue you will do closer to 3k damage. At level 4 Chemical reaction you do more damage and get rid of an extra strike tile. Since you have him 5,4,4 if you like the way he plays keep it that way. If you find that he is taking a lot of damage and you are having to prologue heal a lot then you might want to go 5,5,3 instead.
Both are flexible depending on how you want to play. My Patch preference and recomendation is 5,3,5 and My Daken is at 5,5,3. I use chemical reaction more to set up Berserker rage and put a couple of extra green on the board instead of this great damage ability.0 -
In terms of how to play the board, generally you'll prioritize green > red > blue. Going after blue too hard may put you into heat territory, but putting a couple green tiles on the board can really help sometimes.
The other colors don't really matter, but match-damage-wise it's black > purple > yellow.
In terms of ability timing, you generally want to chip away at their health pool first until you can burst someone down. If you have 3 in Patch green, you can Rage earlier if you expect to match away opponent strike tiles. Otherwise, save your AP for the closing burst. You'll get a feel for how much damage Chemical Reaction does after Rage.0 -
Mind you my Laken and Patch are only at 131 so these other guys might have some better insight.
I like Patches green at 3. I can't imagine it spitting out another two tiles for the enemy. Sometimes you really need that damage from BR but then can't match the purple and all of a sudden your unstoppable-no-health-losing Laken&Patch team are near dead or dying. It has happened to me more than once even with just the green at 3. For that reason, I'd keep it at 3.
With red at 5 now even at lvl 131 i can usually knock out a full hp 2* thor in a 1shot (5800 health) if patches is tanking a couple colors. This is REALLY NICE because up to a little bit ago i was always feeling the need to bring a thor to a thor fight, but not anymore.
I ran my 2* daken at 535 so I could try out the new ability and it was good but have my laken at 5/5/3 to sustain as long as possible in those climbs. I don't think I miss the extra damage really and its kind of nice not to destroy all the strike tiles in one fell swoop because you won't always do it for a kill shot and when you don't its good to have something leftover to finish the match quickly.
I definitely...
take green to 9
make sure there's atleast one purple match on the board
br
hopefully atleast one of the purple enemy strike tiles lands on the match, take that
start collecting red or get my 5 blue depending on how the match is going so i'm ready for a kill shot with laken blue to speed things up.
Hope this helps!0
