Day 163 player.
Started out as F2P so I have thrown away several 3* covers when I was trying to build up my 2* roster.
Leading me to eventually drop $55 in real money strictly for roster spots...except for the 2 times I bought health packs.
Not sinking any more money into this game moving forward.

Only two. Nick Fury, at 1/1/1, and doctor doom, with a single blue cover. Back when I got the daily resupply for him, I couldn't afford to keep him on the team. Day 251, have all 3-4* characters, major PvE grinder from day 20 or so has gotten me a plethora of covers and rewards. If memory serves I've placed below top 10 in less than 10 PvE events since I first opened the game, so my progress was a bit accelerated by that. A few 4 covers, but most are at 6 or more, though even at 6 or more it's odd how useless they can be without being at 10 or above...

Gamora has 4, Blade 5, everyone else has at least 6. I'm currently on day 338 and not in a Top 100 alliance.

I have 12 characters with 3 or less. All of those are 3* or 4*. Invisible Woman was an incredibly lucky drop from a regular * drop. She sucks, but I'm keeping her, especially since she is explicably always the number 1 prize in most PVE/PVP matches. Same for Thorina, except she's good and I wish she would drop more. I have 2 devil dinosaur covers, but I only got 2 of those hand waving stupid moves. I don't think he even drops anymore, he's just a stupid character. I have 3 for Gamora, Loki, Rocket & Groot. 2 for Classic Daken, Black Panther, Classic Magneto, Psylocke, Ragnorok, and 1 for Shehulk. She sucks, but she never drops, so I'm keeping her.

And now they're releasing more 4* characters. If they want to retain the membership they have now they better tweak the drop rates of 3s. Unless people won't be competitive and they will start to leave.

Too many. Which is 12 for me. Day 185ish. Some are really random. Like I've got Magneto with only 3 and Laken with 2, but my Gamora is 3/3/3.

Day 100-something. 19 characters with 3 or less, although to be fair one is a 1* - but the rest are all 3*s and two 4*s. If you expand that to 4 covers or less, you can add 4 more (22 total).

I'm not sure how people are reporting that they have fewer than a dozen 3* characters with just an odd cover or two, unless they are paying for covers or have played a long, long time. Anyone who has started in the last few months, doesn't buy covers, and doesn't throw many covers away should have a smattering of covers here and there. It is impossible to get a fully-covered 3* character in less than a year without paying, if you started within the last few months. It may be longer than a year. Every two weeks it gets longer.

Only 3, but I'd imagine the average user sells off characters rather than make (buy) space on their roster. There are a handful of characters I don't have, and would have less if it weren't for PvE's stupid requirement.

I am on day 150+ (can't remember exactly, but I got the green X-Force daily reward a week ago or so). 13 characters with 3 covers or less, a few more with under 5 covers (really you need 7+ to make a character usable)

That's 21/39 of my characters that are COMPLETELY useless. There are some in the 6-8 cover range that are used only when they are boosted. Pretty sad if you ask me, considering I play regularly every day.

EDIT: I guess I should add in that I am F2P. I did buy some HP for roster slots earlier, but have not spent a dime since, and refuse to due to the cost/benefit ratio being so far in the cost side that it's bringing down the Russian economy (or so the rumor goes)...

Before you go and say, well you need to win more covers... I have won a cover in 8/10 last PvPs and have received the 10-pack from the last 3 seasons. I also win lots of covers in PvE. The issue is that the drop rate is just so darn low.

It is important for the development team who may be reading this to be aware that there are several 3* covers that have expired or I had to sell at various stages of my 92 days due to roster spot limitations and EXPIRING COVERS. It is never fun to play hard to earn a reward only to have it taken away from you because you couldn't squeeze it into your tiny roster within 7 days. It is also no fun having to decide which character to sell off because you have won a new character and you know that if you don't put him/her in your roster in 7 days, you will be handicapped in the next PVE.

Personally, if you remove expiration dates on covers, you could release all you want, I will be happy knowing that the reward I worked hard to get will be there when my other hard work of earning HP buys me a new slot for him/her however long that takes.

I have 2, out of 46 roster slots: Invisible Woman with 3 ylw covers (2 from daily rewards, 1 a random drop), and a Sentry with 1 red cover.
In fairness to this poll, I had a maxed Sentry but sold him for the Iso and HP, then recently received another cover to restart him. I have one 1*, eight 2* and the rest are all the 3*s and 4*s.

While it is day 313 for me, I would like to offer that I have been a F2P player since day 1. Every cover I have has come from competition or luck of the draw. 16 of my characters are cover maxed (the 1*, eight 2*, and seven 3*), but only two 3*s are level maxed & most of my xforce covers (4-4-3) have come from random drops (none from competition wins).

When I started the only 3* covers I ever seemed to get were Daredevil, Black Panther, and Sentry (and I've received WAY more than 13 each for them). Some of the other top covers have come very very slowly, such as LThor, LCap, Hood, CMags, Deadpool, and Patch, none of which are cover maxed yet. On the other hand, in the last month I've received 10 gamora covers, half from 1* tokens - Mystique, Captain Marvel, Falcon, Groot/Rocket have been similar stories.

The game gives in weird ways, if you are F2P you just need to work with what you've got and you will become competitive. Build around what you've got and play on!
