Anyone else dissapointed by the fact that luke cage is our next character? What was the point of the polls near the anniversary where we voted for characters we wanted to see? I dont remember luke cage or elektra or gamora being high on that list if they were at all. But i remember seeing gambit, nightcrawler, green goblin, emma, cyclops, jean grey, carnage, black suit spiderman, iron patriot. Where are these favorites? When they release gambit im gonna be on every node refresh to get 3 covers then prolly spend some actual dough to max him. Theres money for them. Thats my fave xmen. So where are they?

Everyone has a favorite character or three. They are churning them out pretty quick. I suspect Gambit is taking longer because charged tiles are tricky to balance, and they want to use that mechanic with him.

Also, Luke Cage ran the Avengers. Not a trivial character, even if he isn't your cup of tea. He even has a Netflix series coming soon....

I am not disappointed all that much. I am more disappointed that Invisible woman sucks worse than a third of the two star characters.
Luke Cage is a Marvel property, and I understand that MPQ works with Marvel to introduce new characters, that are currently in the news in other locations (I am sure due to contractual obligations).

So as much as we would like to see GAMBIT or CARNAGE I don't think we will see them, until one of them is being introduced for some movie that is a current event that is relevant in the current Marvel Universe.
So if you know the story lines that are out there, we can make guesses of future new characters.

Silver Surfer, Doctor Strange, and Adam Warlock are essential key figures for the Infinity Gem Gauntlet story line. Thanos, Nebulus, and even Lady Death are key figures as well, but I doubt we would ever see them.

For the X-Men universe and the Age of Apocalypse story line.. Archangel, Mr.Sinsiter and possibly Sabertooth and Bishop.

That being said.. Where is the HULK BUSTER Iron man outfit we see in those Avengers Ultron movie clips as well as Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch?

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a big storyline like that when its taken them this long just to do a tiny story like Enemy of the State.

I'd say Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are almost certainly going to happen when it's a lot closer to Avengers 2 actually being out though.

To placate your ego and make you feel like you have some sort of say in whats going on. all a ruse of course. At best its a distraction to ward off more threads about the games many faults.

Oh and its also there to give the cheerleaders something to cheer about.

Consider how long it took Rocket & Groot to come out after the movie. I think it might take a little longer for these thing to be developed than you are giving them. The Deadpool release was huge... they know that fan favorites bring in new players. Hope that they are taking their time to get your favorite character right.

I know I'm in the minority, but they could launch a "Turdman" and my first thought would be, "OK, what are his abilities?" That's the extent of my care to which characters enter the game.

Keep in mind that a few of these characters are big in the Disney/Marvel properties (Gamora, Groot and Rocket obviously in the MCU, Elektra is in the new Daredevil show which is also MCU, whereas I thought Luke Cage might be in Agents of SHIELD?), so I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel incentivised this or if this is D3P making sure it maintains a healthy relationship with Marvel. I would be willing to bet a substantial amount of money on something like this. It easily explains why the most-desired characters - namely mutants - aren't included and why Guardians characters are introduced in tandem with the Guardians DVD [and also Cap and Falcon with the Cap movie's initial release] (but not the case for X-Men and Spider-Man).

if they keep doing this same stuff over and over is it still disappointment, even though it is exactly what you would expect to happen from those developers?
I havent logged into the game for over a week now, and i have no regrets. Each time i come back and check the forum, it only proves the right choice was made.

So can we separate Marvel movie rights from game and digital media rights? I feel like people mix up the two. The article cited any new mutant introduced in the xmen comic books are given as movie rights to fox. Sounds like an old deal that wasn't in their favor when marvel was hurting and is still impacting them today.

It's been very clear that marvel has maintained game and digital media rights to all of their characters. Spidey and xmen are in this game, marvel heroes, that kids infinity game etc. Heck we got mystique only a few months ago. I highly doubt it is a licensing issue but rather a d3 priority issue.

Edit: though I do think they might be given incentives to link up with the MCU like you suggest. DD retool and elektra as the Netflix series is coming out is suspicious.

For hecks sake d3, any nightcrawler love please?

I'm a casual comic fan, when I started this game I thought: I know all these characters, except who is Hood?

Since then Sentry and Devil Dino were introduced as new to me as well (and Guardians, lots of casual fans seemed to not know about these until the movie).

This is another one. I know lots of the Spiderman/X-men/Fantastic 4/Avengers type characters - there are plenty more of those left, it's odd they use these ones that are much more obscure.

You also have to remember marvel is going to be doing TV series on Netflix starting with Dare Devil, Luke Cage, iron fist, and Jessica jones. They will make up the defenders, and so I am sure marvel wants them released into the game. I am sure the Devs have many characters in the works including Gambit, and nightcrawler. They also have the characters they want to introduce themselves. The sponsors as Marvel just have more pull than we do as a fan base. Be patient the Devs will get our characters released soon enough.

While I think Marvel probably does have more invested in characters that they sell in other media, this feud with Fox thing is way overstated. Like that link you posted: If you've read any X-Men in the last few years, you'd see there are loads of new characters. Not as famous as the main characters, but Wolverine and the X-Men introduced a lot, as did Uncanny X-Men. Chris Claremont was the centre of the franchise until about 20 years ago, and though Marvel throws him writing assignments here and there, it seems to be just to appease older readers. They keep him away from any books that are the centre of the line or have any effect on continuity. And he's become a horrendous writer as well. I love his 80's stuff, but he lost whatever he used to have.

Anyway, there are a ton of mutants in the game already, including Beast, Colossus and Mystique as recent characters, and they are not controlled by Marvel, studios so I don't buy any of these things about Marvel pushing D3 into doing only their movie characters. And Gamorra and Groot/Rocket seem like obvious choices. Guardians was one of the top movies of the year. They are more well-known than pretty much any character in the game that doesn't already have a movie.

Luke Cage is a good choice for a new character. He's a major player in the Marvel Universe, and will likely be even bigger after his show comes out. People here want Gambit and Carnage, and man, those are two characters who I could live without. Carnage especially. I love Spider-Man, but as a character, Carnage is basically just psycho-Venom. Maybe he's got some good stories, but I haven't read them. To be fair, I have avoided them.

Characters I would like?
Iron Fist should be in the game, though his TV show should guarantee it sooner or later.
teen Jean Grey, from the current X-Men comics
Superior Spider-Man
Quentin Quire
Cannonball
Cyclops
The Thing
And of course, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch! And Ultron! And the Vision!

Even without the Avengers movie coming up, I've always loved those four. When I was a kid, I was a big fan of the West Coast Avengers for some reason. I read that before I ever read proper Avengers comics.

I'm not disappointed at all with their choices. Sure, I'd love more X-Men, but I love the Marvel characters on the whole. And it's been fun being introduced to characters I avoided in the comics. I hate Daken as a character in comics, but in MPQ? I love him. I kind of hate Blade too, but that's more because of Wesley Snipes He's awesome in the game. I like new characters!

Read AXIS Carnage and enjoy Carnage with a conscience trying to be Spidey. It's awesomely uncomfortable.

I read two issues of it! AXIS is a weird series, I look at these crossovers like an amusing train wreck, and this one was a tiny kitty spectacle (when you have the 'heroes' destroy a city, it's hard to imagine them ever being considered heroes again). Not a high point for Marvel.

I didn't enjoy the issues I read. I think it has a lot to do with age. Venom came out when I was 13, and though I don't love him, I understand him. Carnage came out when I was 17, and I had a girlfriend and didn't follow Marvel closely, and just never tapped in to me. There are characters that debuted later that I like, but Carnage just hits me like a product of 90s marketing.

Gambit is similar, in that he embraces everything bad about Jim Lee design (horrible costume, vague powers). But anyone that was 10 in the 90s loves this design, thanks to the X-Men cartoon.

I don't hold it against anyone for liking these characters, but I don't see their charm.
