How to fix PvP without shield hop tax

I have a solution to the PvP problem.
Dont allow team comps to go past 9*'s worth of value. You can still field a 3x 3* lineup but if you want X-Force and the featured is a 3*, you are going to have to run with a 2*, that balances out the game and would make it much more fun.

I like it. It should be easy to implement and run a test PvP and see how it shakes things up. Another idea would be to have the featured character be a max cover, max level helper. That would also help even things out a little.0 -
How does that fix PvP? It still doesn't stop shield hopping. If a shield hopper was using a 270/249/166 team, a 270/249/94 team is not going to stop them from doing the same thing. If anything, it'll help their friends hop faster since the 2* character will be faster to kill.
I'm not sure why you think having less characters available will make it more enjoyable. We already see how Heroic PvEs are so much fun If D3 is going to add more 4* characters, then that will be what the future standard in PvP will be, the featured 3* character and 2 4* characters.0 -
I like this. While we're at it, let's make pro sports "better" by making sure every team is completely balanced so nobody has an unfair advantage. I'm sure everyone would love that right?0

I dont think is a bad idea for an odd event here and there but I hardly think it would "Fix" PvP. It would just force people to find a new "optimal" team comp. Eventually the majority would settle on it and it will be all you see past X score and then the complaining would start all over again0

That would be a good idea for a pvp mode like bop or combined arms.
It's not a good idea for every pvp bc you punish ppl for playing the game. Pvp is not supposed to be balanced. The best is supposed to do better.
Pve is supposed to be balanced; hence, scaling when it works correctly.
The problem with pvp is not mmr. The problem is the reward structure. Transition rosters should not beat advanced rosters. The problem is they are receiving rewards fitting of a pre-Transition roster.
Ironically, read what my alliance peeps said afterwards, they pretty much agree it's a game mode, not a pvp changer.0 -
Can I remove the worthless level 60 3 star they stick me with?
Or is everyone who uses a 4 star just **** in this scenario?
I don't see how this would improve the game.0 -

They already do buddy, it's called salary cap. That's what I am proposing here is just that, a salary cap. Do you spend it all on offense and let your defense suffer or do you try to build a balanced team? And this would have no effect on top PvP since it would be X-Force/Feature/2*, then when X-Force gets low on health it's 4hor/Feature/2*. Obviously with only 3 teammates the numbers would be skewed but offering a little more limiting format isn't necessarily a bad thing. Because really right now what does having to run X-Force and others or 4hor and others really matter, you usually only use one of those to accelerate you to a win so split them up. If anything this would speed PvP up because players won't have the 1000's of hit points to eat through. So you are able to keep the shielding ability but also allow more teams to compete.0 -

touche. however, just because teams get around it doesn't negate the spirit of the rule which is to keep the large market teams from dominating. So what if for every * you go over 9 you give the opposing team 1 AP in the feature characters colors. You go 11, well now that featured IM40 team you are going against starts with 2 R/B/Y AP.0 -
I have to ask again, why? Why do you think that PvP will be more enjoyable when I have less choices? If I earned all my characters and all the levels on those characters, then why can't I have the pleasure of using what I earned? This is PvP (or PvAI if you want to get technical), and in this arena, the fewer the rules, the better. Am I tired of seeing the 166/249/270 teams? Yes, but that's why I pay the ISO skip tax (which is just one of the more useless ideas they implemented), so I don't waste health packs. But, I've earned 12 covers of my xforce (and bought 1, ugh) and earned all 166 levels on him. And I only have 1 166 3*. It's going to take quite a bit of ISO to max level another 3*, but in the mean time, I can use my 166/166/featured 3* to try to get as high as I can and earn ISO/HP. I'll never get #1 in PvP with my current roster levels, but, you want to punish me because of how I chose to spend my earned ISO? I'm already getting punished in PvE for getting to 166, isn't that enough?0

Heh. I think it's an amusing / mildly interesting idea for a 'now and then' style of fighting. But your title really doesn't apply to this idea... there's no way it's going to 'fix' PvP, and I don't quite understand where 'shield hop tax' is addressed at all?0

now we have no. of * and Level as characters power
create a multiplier to different * and level
the PVP points is combination of how many* , how high level and placement your oppsite will be. problem slove. Limit the max challenge to 10 within certain of time0
