Stupid-needless moves you make when playing

3 opponents, as usual.
The one in front has health around 1000.
The two guys behind around 3000.

GSBW has her sniper riffle loaded.

I always bring in front one guy with 3000 health.
No reason, but cannot help myself. I always do it.

Same with Sentry's supernova.

I do things like that too.

Another one: using a skill to down the last opponent on the board, when they have so little health that any match-3 would do.

Instinctively matching 4 purple when you just needed the adjacent 3 green match for call the storm next turn

Sometimes I wonder if I am the AI

Oh, and the companion move to that: automatically matching the color of the skill you're building to before noticing there was a match-5 that would have been a free turn.

Oh I've missed two obvious match 5s doing that in the past. Always nice that you notice about 2/25ths of a second after you moved your finger too.

I keep swiping the wrong way, making 3 or 4 matches instead of the 5 I was going for

Playing on the iPhone, this is a real problem. Last night, I was playing through DC with Ares, Daken, and Loki, against Falcon & Grey Widow. I screwed up a 5 that was going to knock out Falcon; my finger hit the swipe wrong, and Falcon got a chance to drop his Bird Strike. Instead of just cleaning up, I eventually was down to just Loki having to claw through all those damn shields.

If I have enough blue for a second wind storm, and it will be enough damage to wipe the enemy team out, I will still bring forward an enemy that's not stunned. I also bury my LCap red into the corner even tho I win the match and don't have to try and protect it.

You know how when you have enough Ap to use all 3 abilities of a character that one is high lighted by the little lightning bolt. Sometimes, not really paying attention or tired, I will select the character but instinctively hit the highlighted power instead of the one I want. Or if 2 characters have the same color, I'll hit the wrong one. (MN Mags over Wind Storm for example)

As for things I do on purpose just because, .... I'll save up several abilities and then leave my opponents at low health. Then use them all in the same turn. And if I'm using a tile placement ability, Like Steve Rogers, or MN Mags, or GSBW, I'll save it, then I will use it to end the match, but place it on the board so that it gets in one final match 3 or 4. Or critical match 5's if I'm lucky. Maybe even causing a cascade.
  • The most fun of these used to be when you were shield hopping with Sentry and you got into a bad fight and lost a ton of health on him, then forgot to use a health pack and got into the next fight right away.

All boosts on max, +3 all, and now I have to retreat

Another good one is to press the home button on Android and 99% of the time nothing happens. 1% of the time the game resets. This one almost cost me a phone once.

My favorite thing to do is to win a match with a power when a match 3 will win it for me. There is nothing like using call of the Storm when the last goon has under 100 health.

When I start a match, I like to cycle through each enemy by tapping on them before making the first match (even if I'm planning on targeting the initially selected enemy)- not sure why. I sort of like the "switch active opponent sound" and I guess it's become a bit of a habit and a completely ineffectual "good luck" charm.

I am also frequently guilty of (this is more of a stupid than a stupid-needless move, to be honest) forgetting to include protect tiles in my damage calculations. I have lacerated the air on several occasions with a multitude of profanities after my attack left a Classic Storm with 11+ Blue AP at < 50 HP, > 0 HP after forgetting to take into account the meager enemy protect tiles tucked quietly away in a corner.
  • I keep touching myself...ummm...oh my.

  • I'm guilty of needlessly screenshotting throughout the game. Thus, you mean things like this?

    Heh.... nice thread...

    Small screen?

I used to do that all the time on the iPhone 5.
  • Sometimes i use boosts on a team that is so ez (ex 2 goons and a lvl40) or forget to use boosts on hard missions (lvl150+ people)

Partially small screen, partially just sloppy playing. Really, to be safe, you need to double tap for match 5s just to be safe

There is no such thing as overkill in this game. Many times I've overestimated my ability to finish the battle on the next turn - for example, enemy Wolverine has 200 HP left, and the only matches available won't do enough damage, but I haven't run the numbers - and wound up eating an Adamantium Slash, or leaving a yellow match open for him to heal himself. You always want to finish the battle as quickly and cleanly as possible, because every bit of damage you take leaves you at a disadvantage for further battles. So it's best to use powers if you've got them, with the possible exception of Team-Ups.
  • I play without sound and may occasionally do my own sound effects. icon_mrgreen.gif
  • In the selection screen, I set the three players in the tanking order I want even if it makes no difference to their tanking.

My favorite needless move is firing off Aggressive Recon followed by Anti-Gravity Device, when last opponent has less than 100 health and will be downed in the same match....

(those who remember times before true healing knows why)
