PVP defence, Daken+Ares or Daken+Thor?

just got Ares up and running (still need a fifth yellow cover for optimal set-up though)

so what is better for PVP defence in between pushes (besides a shield of course)
Daken+Thor or Daken+Ares?

    I would vote Ares. His green costs less, and he is less likely to be taken down before getting off one of his abilities. If he is close to death, his red will be worth more. AI controlled Ares will suicide Sunder. If I had to choose to fight Thor or Ares, it's usually Thor I pick to fight.
  • Ares hands down. With this composition, any 2 Green or Blue Matches means somebody is going to have a huge bite of HP gone.
  • You may actually consider Ares/Thor. I routinely take on Ares/Daken or Thor/Daken without hesitation but I won't tackle Ares/Thor because the combined HP is so high that it's not worth the headache. You have better color synergy with the two teams you suggested but players are more likely to skip Ares/Thor because it's just not worth the hassle.

    Do note it's mostly mindgames. A match skipped in match not lost of course, but people who don't fall for '2 tanks with huge damage' will focus on denying redtile.pngyellowtile.pnggreentile.png and damage intake even from matches will get reduces to near 0. Add oBW to make sure they won't launch anything and to buffer match damage they do find and you have team with only slightly higher level of risk taking as Mag/Storm.

    Daken will make match bit longer and adds one dangerous colour that will hit for ~1k. oBW adds two dangerous colours, one which will heal her for 1k, other that will straight up make you loose. She may also hinder you if you rely on bluetile.pngpurpletile.pngblacktile.png powers and is doing close to double match damage when collecting them. oBW is by far the one you want to avoid. Although nothing will 'really' save you since at 500 you still will be better tharget than 130-166 3* you start getting.
  • very true but i would still like to know that i could get a random defense win if the opponent gets particularly unlucky.
    i do want to get my oBW on line but am still very far away and i think im going to soft cap her to 11/13 power level anyway so not sure if that is as effective a defensive deterrent. but quite possibly a lot more powerful.

    will be using Daken+Ares in the mean time though.

  • no shield >> i agree as defensive team thor/ares would be better. with that amount of HP less people will hit you. but you got less defensive win
    with shield >> obw/ares or thor. attrack many people to hit you but got more defensive win
  • Defensively, OBW isn't that great. True she hits harder, but she goes down way too quick, usually after the first skill or so. Plus the . She's ok with Ares, as she can give Ares more time to reach a sunder, but I still find Ares/Daken a little more risky to take on: you're trying to starve Green from Ares, but at the same time giving opponent strike tiles. If you don't take the green, you end up taking multiple onslaughts.

    The thing about OBW on defense is that one bad cascade can ruin the opponent once she gets her Recon going. If you don't down her fast enough, you will run into a lot of pain.

    im going to have to vote on thor being the scarier one here. there were times when an opponent's thor was able to get a yellow off, cause a major cascade, and then get call of the storm off and wiped 2 of my guys and proceded to win the game with low health. oBW is also very scary as if she's able to get off a recon. however, ares isn't as scary to me. i know not to let him be alive at under 25% with 10 red. i also know that every time he makes 2 green matches, i put my tankiest guy out front. His green giving me greens allows me to reach my green skills faster too. i would honestly say magneto, storm, and ares are both very low-medium risk characters. oBW and thor can be really bad if you let them pop off a skill so they're definitely more scary to me.

    oh one more thing, i always get to 300 in pvp to get that token and then i stop playing. so everyday when i log back in i'll see how i did defensively. when i used to run obw and ares i would log in to 3-5 losses everytime with few wins. now that i switched to a BP + thor , oBW + thor, and lazy daken + thor i see 1-2 wins everytime. it may partially be the lazy daken or BP, but i'm convinced the thor has something to do with it. i dont really pay to much attention to who i leave on defense, but its one of those three teams.

    edit - my bp and ldaken are around level 100.
