Don't run high-demand PVEs back-to-back

PVE are tiring. There's a ton of grinding. Usually, after a new character PVE, there's been an "off" one for people who want to to take easy without having to worry about missing a chance at something.

But we got the Rocket and Groot intro to wear us out, followed by the 4* Thor one to wear us out more, and we're going to apparently get Gamora next to wear us out even more. It's not a coincidence there's been at least one high-profile player rage-quitting during the current one, and I doubt Arktos will be the only one.

The one-on-one-off method worked well. People could pace themselves during the "off" PVE and not burn themselves out.

Everyone is burning themselves out during this one. The few who aren't burned out now will be by the time Gamora is released.

New character releases should be special. They're getting rote. I appreciate that at least you've stopped the heroics, but this is only so much better. This isn't a race, and you need to let people catch their breath.

  • A new character that comes with a new PvE that also awards a new 4* seems pretty special to me.

My awesome wife wakes up and does the 3am clear for me so I only need to do midnite and 6am. Not sure how others are staying alive for 5 days.
  • I agree.

I assumed this PVE was just a bonus for the hardcore because honestly even if you get all 3 Thor covers, I don't think there are that many people who have the ISO to get her anywhere near usuable outside of the top players and/or whales who will max her. With that said, I do understand the value of having those extra covers, especially for those of us who tend to be better at PVE than PVP and probably won't hit the 1300 mark for 4* covers.

Ben, you seem to be under the impression that the devs really actually care what we think.

They don't really. We might get a character fix here or an amended something there, but they have stuff to push, someone is going to play it - the end. Gamora coming up, Iron Patriot / Osborn sometime.

I've had real life stuff to do a bit more recently and the number of recent 3* covers I have is really low and I am not able to keep up with the required roster slots. What's it for? More slots? More characters? etc etc, so on, so forth, what everyone else says. I am starting to get tired of this monotony.

I actually wouldn't object to them retiring or doing complete refreshes of selected characters, eg. some of the DA.

Anyway... you know all this, just adding a word in.

I really agree man, say there was a pvp with 20,000 iso as top reward not psylock who I have max cover twice I would be far more interested, I havent really even bothered with PVP this season as I just dont care.

Have you considered not burning yourself out?

It's just a *** character. Take it easy.
Put in a couple hours with each sub so your alliance gets it's cover reward. Accept the fact that your *** will take an additional PvP event to complete.

Add to that the fact that we have MUCH faster character rotations for tokens now. I've sold my share of extra she-hulk and Beast covers and those characters aren't that old at all. In retrospect, it makes the crazy grind I did to get them seem like a waste of effort (character strength aside).

I understand your skepticism, but the last time I did this, it actually appears to have worked.
  • I honestly think the bigger issue is they put this one over Thanksgiving.

I didn't freaking have time to play this weekend haha.

Devs and publisher want people to grind PVE to show that MPQ has a lot of engaged gamers every hour, every day, every week, every month.

speak for urself alt...i just dropped 360k from my earned (not purchased) iso stack on my 4thor. There are plenty of hardcore LR grinders that have the iso to drop on Thoress once they acquire the covrrs.

  • I think people greatly underestimate how much iso you earn and how much iso is wasted on boosts. I have 650K iso 8 stocked up and I play primarily PvE which is not anywhere near the best way to get iso 8 (20 iso 8 per fight FTW). I do try to hit LRs but I definitely don't hit it religiously like a lot of people do, and I could get a lot more iso if I played PvP more since the average payout (~100) is much higher compared to 20 (I get checkmark on just about every PvE node already), and at any rate high level PvE is more likely to be negative iso 8 in terms of boost costs compared to even the strongest PvP teams.

after 3 clears you are basically getting the nominal 20 iso reward, think about you need 10 of those to buy 5 boosts, yea you are right the iso rewards after the first 3 clears drastically diminish to negative rewards after about 5 clears
  • I don't think the issue is running PvE's close together, the issue is 2.5hr node refreshes and the end times.

That and/or the amount of nodes is too damn high (insert meme here). Half of them doesn't seem to have story whatsoever. And oh boy, second sub in Rocket and Groot was by far the laziest and boring I ever seen in any PvE - goons, mystique and goons, goons, goons and mystique, goons, mystique with goons, goons with mystique, and of course everyone's favorite Goon, Goonn and Goonnie. A team that could clear one could clear all of them, I'm fairly sure by accident I saved their world from global warming with amounts of Wind Storms going out.

C'mon, don't you remember how you made Deadpool? It had everything, different goons, heroes, combinations of them you will never see elsewhere. Same Gauntlet. If you want to run Goon-focused event, fine, just don't put so many of them! No matter what they are, there are combinations that let you kill them off without taking hit, which you then use for every other node like this, not to mention it causes wild scaling that makes some nodes takes ages (but not getting more difficult).
  • It was the laziest new event by far.

1st sub (Hood and Goons) was dull until the end then stupidly hard to annoy you

2nd sub (Mystique and Goons) was, as you said, just endless repetition. The final two nodes didn't even have a villain! Only the Deadpool boosted story saved it a touch.

3rd sub (Doom and Mystique and Goons) Made no sense. Did I miss something or where were the Groot enhanced goons? Did it actually end? If we're getting a new storyline soon... what relevance did this one have to the Dark Reign storyline? Where's the assualt on Asgard? etc etc. Plus half the nodes were like the 2nd sub, so we got to do the same battles about 100 times each...

Yeah - if it wasn't for the 4Thor rewards everyone would be complaining that it had been rushed together by someone on work experience.

The only way the Devs are really going to change this full speed ahead nonsense is to have their player engagement drop. I agree wholeheartedly with the OP, but as long as they dangle the carrot, people will play in droves. Personally, Gamora isn't enough for me to care about playing a repeat PvE with repeat nodes and repeat opponents. Unless there's something interesting in the progression, I'll pass. (and even if there is, I'll take my time getting it)

I like the Simulator and Gauntlet most, not necessarily because of the formats (though that helps), but because the opponents actually change event to event. It's great that they made stories for Deadpool and Grocket, but 100 runs from now Deadpool vs MPQ will have the same set of opponents, and Grocket will still have us fighting Mystique/Hood/Doom ad nauseum.

For the Devs, if you insist on writing new stories (or are forced to), add them to the prologue, and let people read and clear them at their leisure. For the regular PvE, come up with something more interesting than "fight these 12 sets of opponents 10 times a day, for 20 Iso at a time." It's getting boring.

Have you seen the prologue missions? The reason why the enemies were structured this way was because they were trying to go for the theme of R+G fighting Hood/MQ/Doom. DP was structured differently because the entire storyline was about him vs the world cause it's DP. You can't make all storylines character X vs the world, so this complaining seems unwarranted.

I would have given this whole event a pass if the final node was a giant Iso-enhanced plant monster, where you had to take out its two limbs and body. As it was it was just repetitive with little payoff.
