Tile Association?

Forgive me if this is asked-and-answered, but: How does tile association work?

For instance--Astonishing Wolvie and Classic Storm are both at 94, and both have a score of 43 for yellow. What determines which of those two the yellow tiles are associated with during a match, and is that something that can be accounted for when selecting teams? In this specific example, for instance, my yellow tiles always seem to end up with Storm's lightning bolt, which is unfortunate given that it puts her front and center and she's kind of an easy mark.

Ties are settled by teammate placement. Priority is Center, left, right.

To put wolvie in front for yellow, put storm in the right position and wolvie in the left.
