why MPQ is the best and the worst - a Season VII story

Just wanted to share this one night of MPQing that brought me joy and tears all at once. There’s no such thing as too much winning in MPQ. Your highest highs can easily be interrupted by some unlucky results.

I was lucky enough to hold a top 5 place in a relatively low-scoring bracket in the Iron Man pvp. Holding 3rd at a cool 903, I had lined up a 28 point match that would have catapulted me to first place, which I handily won. Too bad I got hit during that phase, and sank down to 4th. All things considered, still pretty awesome, and was awarded enough covers to finally max out Daken.

I decided to give him a spin with max Falcon by starting Simulator and I noticed that I was just within reach of 4000 for the season 10 pack. After 25 minutes of spamming and buffing strike tiles, I hit 4000. My excitement immediately turned to tinykitty, with not a single gold token in the 10 pack.

I know statistics plays a role, and I’m not the first person to open 10 two star tokens, but man, what a disappointment. I have gotten progressively less and less gold tokens from the 10 pack since season 5. I wonder if this is a real change, or just dumb luck. Hope everyone else has better luck with their packs.

I tied to hop too quickly last night, with less than 15 minutes left to go I shielded 12 points below first place. With about 5 minutes left a unshielded and did one more match that wasn't quite as fast as I wanted it to be. All the hits from the previous hop landed right there in the last minutes for -200 points dropping me from possible first to out of top 5. So lesson learned. Don't try to hop several times in the last hour of an event. Really don't open yourself up in the last 5 minutes of an event. I should have known these lessons already but been so very long since top 1-5 even looked like a possibility i got greedy and blew it.
