How the hell did the top player rank up so fast?

Lightning event just started, 7 mins after my 1st round the top player is already 160, how did they climb so fast? I am only seeing 30+ teams to go against and it is only after a few skips before I encounter such a team. Is there a special way to speed up the ranking?

    Yeah, those seed teams with the lvl 1/2 characters take like, 30 seconds to beat

    Took me 8 minutes to get to 160, 6 more for 250. After the first three battles didn't get an opponent worth more than 15 so yeah, nothing too weird here.

    Yepp, the first points are made pretty fast. Got to 100 in 4 mins (ok, the teams were REALLY low) in the tourney before.

    They probably get lucky with cascades, match 5s, or buy boosts to fire off three Red Rags off immediately which at max level does around 1800 damage per fire during lightning rounds....

    Max level rags. Early matches take about 30 seconds and are usually over before the third turn.
