Thank you MPQ! (End Times)

edited November 2014 in MPQ General Discussion
A massive thank you on behalf of a large number of players worldwide for the implementation of phased end times in events. Should this be fully and successfully implemented across events then we can wave goodbye to:

- Events ending when you're otherwise engaged (at work, at a social event etc)

- Getting up once or twice in the middle of the night to grind like a mentallist in the last hours (pve) or check your rank (pvp and pve)

- Server overloads when popular events all end at the same time globally

It's by far the best / most practical solution for everyone and one that many on the forum (*ahem*) have been pushing for over the last year. Sure, there are going to be some people who get annoyed at selecting the wrong time by mistake, or find issue with the impact on alliance ranking due to the importance of that final end time group... but the needs of the many are paramount. This is THE BEST quality of life improvement you could possibly have made for the global game as a whole.

THANK YOU.

p.s. sorry for creating a seperate thank you thread, but after about half my post count being dedicated to this cause, I kind of felt like it warranted it.

Though I too am happy about the change, they are just fixing something that was incredibly wrong since the beginning.

True. But given the amount of stick the devs get for pretty much everything, I thought it might be a nice change to actually give out some lovin' for once. At the end of the day (5am, lol) it's there, it's working (apart from that last timeslot issue for some) and it signals the end of my wife threatening to leave me if my alarm goes off "ONE MORE BLOODY TIME" in the middle of the night.

Well, you could have saved the devs a lot of time and energy, had you left your wife. That was quite simple, you will admit.

I am drained by sleepless nights too (the last one being today). I am curious how things will work Alliance-wise, reward-wise...

So, I'd say good job to them, and wait for what will go next before I am overly happy...

I was not really annoyed by PvP end times. PvEs were more of a concern.

I am waiting to actually play through a couple of pvp and pve implementations where it will impact me - pretty much any pve, and any pvp other than this hulk one that ends Saturday afternoon for me normally.

Assuming it works as intended, this is the biggest improvement for me since the introduction of shields.

I'm not handing out any thank-yous until these monkeys fix their code to properly award event points.

I have never ever understood the people who actually wake themselves up during the night to finish an event or grind a node.

There's addicted and then there's that.
  • Timed ending/starting is just inconvenient across the board. I think I'll be free at 3pm tomorrow but maybe something changes? Now that whole day is dedicated to something else other than playing marvel. They'll see in a very short time how much money it will cost them to attempt to use this indefinitely and we'll revert back to the old/ultimate way of joining an event which is "at user convenience" Which is the reason 90% of people play this game is because you jump in any time you have time.

How's that any different to what it was like previously? At least this way you can choose a time that will feasibly suit you, none of which have to be 4 or 5am (which didn't seem to suit anyone, heh).

I'm with OP, and and quite thankful that the devs have acknowledge this and are working on something to help out the player base. If it doesn't go perfectly on the initial trial, so what. It's a start.

It's about wanting to be competitive, and I've always been a highly competitive person as far as gaming goes. Sure, MPQ is fun but people play events to win covers / ISO and often (especially in PVE) the difference between waking up and grinding the last hour or two of a 4-7 day event was getting multiple 3* (or a 4*) cover and getting a **** 2* regardless of your rank when you go to bed.

PvP is different and I'd only ever wake myself up for PvP if I really, really wanted to ensure I was top 5 for that extra cover. However, 5am/6am finish times in the EU also meant that buying an 8hr shield was an absolute requirement and therefore kind of a 'you're not American' tax.

Addiction to MPQ would make me want to play MPQ compulsively, which isn't the case at all - I'd rather play it less if anything.

Oh boy, you are looking for trouble. I really hope YOUR wife does not read forums ^^
  • I would like to add my thanks for this. Great idea which addresses my main issue with the game,
