Bcorm Posts: 36 Just Dropped In
edited January 2014 in MPQ General Discussion
I was in 7th place and entered a match. Two minutes later once I won I came out having lost 185 points and dropping to 22. Has anybody else noticed ridiculous PvP matches occurring lately?

  • Yes. There's about a dozen threads on this, between here, Suggestions, and Bugs. It's allegedly going to be fixed "soon".

Wait a sec, there is a problem with PVP scoring? it makes total sense to lose 200-300 points in the span of 2 minutes.

/sarcasm off for those of you who might think that was a serious post.
  • I think it's a good day when you come out with the same number of points you started with after winning a match.

    Sad but true lol
  • its a known issue that only a patch (i believe iceix said this) can fix.

yeah, if you actually gained any you've pretty much used up all your luck and are just waiting for a -200 icon_evil.gif
  • Yeah, I made it to #1 in this last round and I literally thought to myself, "How long will it take before I lose 200 points all at once?"

Since this new tournament is going to last for 2*(32 hours) + around a 4 hour break, I think the earliest we should even 'hope' for a patch to PVP is next week.
  • One change that'd help is put a 15 minute limit to retaliation in the last 90 or so minute of a PvP match. I know we're all looking at our juiciest retaliation and wait for them to fatten up so we can get those points in the last minute, but this is also the same thing that leads to these crazy drops in scores in the last minute too.
  • Ever since these point bugs I just join tournaments with 30 minutes left and try to snipe top 1.

I suspect that's probably the best way about it, since by joining at the very end you don't have a history of showing up on people's retaliation list as 'juicy target to hit', or at least you'd have a shorter history compared to someone who's been playing for a while.

If it's possible to get at least 250 points for the token or 400 for the free HP, then I'd do the same.

I can get to 500 in 30 minutes with no retaliation

So around 20 fights (assuming 25 points per fight) in 30 minutes? Major props. I think I'll try that out.

Dugan has the team to do that. I've done similar (Widowmaker I went from <100 to >700 in an hour, w/o boosts). If you don't have a high end team and a low MMR then you're going to have a harder time doing it.

It's do-able, I've done it as well. It's just a matter of keeping your MMR low and your team levels high. If I'm fighting teams 50-ish levels lower than mine then the wins are quick and the retaliations nonexistent.

I wonder if that strategy is still viable now with Shields being put into play.

MMR doesn't matter. I can take down rags/spidey/whatever teams in a similar time using grey widow. Although doing it in double shot is hard because boosted IM40 has so many damn hps

    *lol* This. Is. So. True.
