Unsure who to put on defence

I'm transitioning 2* to 3* and I haven't seen a defensive win in yonks alas so I could do with some advice about who to pair up in the pvp who would at least make people without ultra scary line ups think twice before having a go at or might provide the odd surprise.

Possible candidates are;

Grey Widow: Lvl 166 5/3/5 seems like a no brainer just in terms of her level, but she is kinda squishy at just under 6,000 health.
Psylocke: Lvl 138 (currently bringing her up to 140) 4/3/4 also squishy but her red and black aren't bad and not hard for the AI to mess up.
Devil Dinosaur: Lvl 127 0/2/3 9k health is kind of lovely, terrible powers though and the red only does 600 which is pretty middling.
X-Force: Lvl 111 2/2/2 Just not got enough covers yet to be intimidating really.
Model 40: Lvl 102 3/2/3 Yeah we all know he isn't great.
Hulk: Lvl 94 5/1/1 nice for the 6.5k health making him harder than my one lvl 166. Not too scary otherwise.
Steve Rogers: Lvl 89 (could get him to 102) 2/2/4 could be a bit annoying with more levels.
Daken: Lvl 78 2/3/1 sure ultra squishy, but he does make a nice amount of green for cheap for Grey Widow and he does regen a bit.

Other than that I've still got Ares, OBW, Magneto Now, and Classic Storm for my maxed 2 stars.

What do you reckon?

I feel like Ares/OBW would be better than any combination of your 3*s. Maybe Ares/PsyLocke?

GSBW is good, but she so squishy on defense, and the AI doesn't know how to place the green tiles. And the others aren't covered well enough to deter anyone.

I'm at roughly the same point as you (some 3*s covered, others not so much) and I would have no issues fighting against a max level GSBW because barring a super bad board, I should be able to take her out.
