Am I ready to start shooting for 1300pts?

Do I have a decent chance at hitting 1300pts in current pvp (thor) with the following:
L. Thor 3/5/5
C. Mags 3/5/5
Hood 2/5/2
Hulk 5/3/4
L. Cap 3/5/5
(All lvl max/cap)
600 HP
Or are x-force and/or sentry required at this point? I really want that x-force but don't want to waste my HP if I don't stand much of a chance.

Imo doable. Since there will be plenty of crazy 1900-2000 scores running around, points will trickle down.
What's your usual highest score?
I think you should go as follows: play to 700, 750, 800 when you can (see if there are a lot of incoming attacks, tank a bit in Shield Simulator if needed), stay there until you are ready to push closer to the end of the event. End on a Thor/Hood team, the third should be either Hulk or cMags.
Then push starting with the softest teams, you have several viable teams there: early LT/LC/oBW and LT/Hood/oBW, then LT/LC/Hulk, LT/Hulk/Hood and LT/LC/Hood, then the best team you can field, LT/cMags/Hood. Rotate cMags/LC depending on their health. Try to use Thunder Strike after Polarizing Force.
Hulk is not perfect since he only tanks black for you, but you should still try to sub him to make the most possible comps, and he has high health. LC is good against other Hulks and can win games on his own if LT dies.
Play as fast as you possibly can, equip your best cheap team-ups too.
With good luck and timing that should last you all the way to 1000-1100, until you run out of healthpacks (you can grab the 1500 progression points healthpack in PvE for your run, too).
Then you shield up before painful -50 attacks start incoming, regen your health, and look for next best targets (at least 40 points apiece, ideally 48-50). Do look for top 10 alliance members as you can verify their scores reliably, or for scores from alliances nearby your own. Your shield should reflect most of the attacks as well.
Then do a 2-3 fight boosted hop for 90-150 points; then another for 2 fights or so, depending on your targets and regularity of attacks. Always pick the best targets that you can reliably beat. Avoid the -3h and -8h marks if you can. Everything after the -3h mark is a bloodbath but then again for newer covers, scores will be outrageous, so you can possibly squeak by with your maxed Thor in the frenzy. I have seen some LT comps at high scores (1200-1300), without XF or Sentry, so I believe you can achieve the same. Good luck!0 -
Once you can reliably beat 166 teams, the main thing that determines how high you can go is how much HP you're willing to spend. And keep i mind - scoring 1300 will shard you into tougher brackets.0

Blasphemy, you can tank again after scoring 1300, Shield Simulator is open 24/7. I would even recommend staying open after getting 1300 to let everyone lower your MMR for you, but it's Colossus, you probably want his covers to do well in the Heroic and Colossus' event.0

Just adding to Locked's excellent suggestions.
- you may want to do your initial push at T-24h ish, because of available targets. If you push too early, like as soon as the event starts, you won't get many high points (read: >26 pts) targets.
- consider pushing as far as you can on 5 health packs and rest unshielded around 700-800 range and let your health packs regenerate and roster recover to full. only make that first push once everything is 100%. You may get knocked down to 600+ range but that's ok. Your MMR will be lowered as a result so less high MMR team will be able to see you.
- When making that first push to before first shield, use +AP boosts that costs ISO only. Your team is not the fastest, so every little bit helps. Make sure to bring your own Hood when facing Hood opposition too.0 -
Thanks for the great advice everyone. I hadn't even considered using oBW for the climb to 1k, but I guess she does speed up LT. I also completely forgot about the health packs from PvE, what an awesome tip Locked! I also appreciate the advice on the order to use my characters. I was just going to go with my strongest from the get go.
I was at 700 last night but now I got knocked down to 513. That was with LT/c. Mags/Hood on defense. I've been tanking my whole roster (39) before going to bed every night. I guess my 3.5k health Hood makes me a juicy target.
I was thinking about pushing back up to 700 tonight and then starting my push to 1k at T-12H and avoid T-8H and T-3H. Is that a good time or should I wait a little longer?
Thanks for mentioning potential shard issues for scoring 1300 Grimm. I quit playing when sharding first started due to constantly being put into brackets of death and just started again a month ago. It's been nice being in reasonable brackets and I don't want to mess that up. I'll probably stay unshielded after hitting 1300 (fingers crossed) and get knocked down to top 25.0 -

locked wrote:Wow, that is some fierce banging. Could be due to low lvl Hood, yeah. What do the attacking teams look like? Maybe your tanking is insufficient to ward off maxed rosters. Try ending on Hulk/Mags next after reaching 700. Maybe stay just a bit under 700. The time seems good but you never know for sure. Busy/nighttime US hours are generally good.
I know, right? The attack teams look pretty weak (incomplete x-force/non-maxed 3*s). I'm guessing they're majorly boosting. I have been getting a lot of defensive wins now. Back up to 673 without having played all day!
I'm currently facing only 1*s and very low lvl 2-3*s (lvl 40 max) in the simulator when tanking.
I just bought $50 worth of iTunes credit from PayPal for $40 and am considering buying an asgard treasure with it. That would get me 3 more x-force covers (I currently have him at 3/2/2).0 -

I would try to use Sentry to get to X-Force covers while there's time still until Sentry's funbalance (which hasn't been announced or even implied by the devs yet but is something I would advise to be ready for eventually). If you are going to buy covers at all, that is. If you have enough roster slots and can provide your shielding in events that interest you, then perhaps shortcutting to endgame is not a bad idea.
So far I've acquired 6 sentrys and sold every one of them. I despise the character in the comics and refuse to have him in my roster. How could the people at marvel possibly think it was a good idea to retcon the ENTIRE 616 universe just to include such a sorry "character"?
Sentry will never taint my roster so I have to go for x-force (aka: I'm the 2nd best at what I do).
Anyhow, when I broke shield at 1240 I just had 2 more matches to go! But after winning my 2nd match I lost 2 matches . Shielded up and I will try just single hopping the rest of the way. Is 40 minutes enough time between hops?
Edit: hopped to 1291. Just one more hop to go!
Edit 2: I did it! Huge thanks to everyone for the help. You guys/gals rock. Especially you Locked!
I decided to just shield up for the rest of the event at 3rd with 5th nowhere near me. I worked too hard to miss out on the extra colossus. I know I'll probably regret it later though.0 -

And refusing to have Sentry is understandable - trust me, you are not missing out much game-wise. Boost through your nose, match green, match yellow, pray the AI doesn't get ridiculous cascades, what fun. X-Force is number one considering sustainable play and goes much better with a variety of characters. I would still try to earn covers through placement and 1300 progression though, since 2500 HP for a single cover is frankly too much, I would only buy one black or one green when close to the 5/5/3 build and one cover short. Spending on 4-6 3 hour shields is still cheaper than buying a cover.0 -

Even when one cover short, 2500HP is just over 33 3-hr shields. You can hop to 1300 for much cheaper than that, and those two covers are in the 1300 cycle every couple weeks.0
