Your Alliance priorities are all wrong

When my friend and I joined about 4 months ago we decided to forgo the cool crowd and give back to the community. How? Well instead of joining a top 100 we elected to start our own alliance, 'the Unwashed' which we are proud of. We are both firmly in end game but we have an alliance with 18 new fledgling players that are just starting to transition to 3 star land. We don't hit top 100 and my friend and I don't mind too much as we are helping new players transition to an otherwise unassailable 3 star happy land. It cost us about $200 but we bore it so that we could create our own team.

Because we took this route we don't get alliance rewards, like idk 4 star Thor.

A few months later you make it free to make a 20 person alliance with no refund, just some weak explanation that we already got our rewards... umm what rewards the extra iso 8? that I would of got anyway if I had joined a top 100... ????? HUH THIS MAKES NO SENSE!!??!! I HAVE FAR LESS REWARDS BECAUSE I SPENT $200 NON REFUNDABLE ON THIS TINYKITTY.

All the new 20 person alliances will make it even harder to recruit new players.

Once a player hits 3 star land they usually leave us for the top 100's, so it is really nice to be other teams training grounds.

There is no alliance control beyond: private/ public/ kick player

The alliance chat is woeful, and now even more cluttered with team up requests, which take way too long to refresh and for some reason when the person has 5 team ups sent to them the request is still log jamming the alliance chat. Which is all in reverse and just awful.

Instead of fixing the broken things in Alliances you infuriatingly add more layers of tripe to get through. Which is an overarching theme to most of your business decisions. You kick us in the tinykitty for trying to be community minded rather than selfishly joining a top alliance. Honestly who is making your business decisions over there? Cause you need to fire their tinykitty.

I don't understand.

First you say you wanted to be selfless, and made an alliance to only help transitioning players, and didn't care about the top 100 rewards. (How does a non-top 100 alliance help transitioning players?)

But then you start complaining about how the alliance you paid for didn't earn you any top 100 rewards (that you didn't care about).

How is this D3's fault? If they hadn't made the change you still wouldn't be a top 100 alliance, and still wouldn't have gotten any top 100 rewards...

Most top 100 wont take a 2 star transition player, my friend and I score high in PVP and PVE (about 1800 last 2 PVP) getting them all better rewards (comparatively like 2 star covers) which helps them get to 3 star land. I didn't say I didn't care about not getting top 100 rewards I said I didn't mind too much because we were helping the community.

Lets look at the decision. Yes it was a good step to make the alliance free, it was a blatant money gouge to start with. BUT, the people that spent money are not the Free To Play crowd, they are the peeps that will spend money and support the game. D3 are basically saying, we acknowledge that we were money gouging you, we will stop but we will keep the money we already gouged.

I'm not asking for a money refund I'm asking for an HP refund, which lets face it costs them nothing, placates the players that were actually bank rolling them and the HP refund will 1. apologize for the mistake they are admitting to, and 2. Encourage the people that bank rolled them to keep playing.

Paying money for something with no intrinsic value is by definition theft. Want to buy some air? You need it.

I'm kind of agreeing with you, I have to wonder about peeps like sandmaker, I bet he let someone else spend the HP for his Alliance slot, then voices the loudest opinion. Kinda like those scabs that organize a night out drinking then when you get there tell you they don't have any money and could you just buy one or two beers.

This isn't meant to be a plug for my alliance, but there are alliances out there that will take a hungry transition player and slot them in gladly. My alliance (Earth 141 - which is, and has been top 100 every season) has taken a transition player each of the last 8 times that we have recruited a new member. Early on our only requirement was that someone have any cards for the most recent 4-5 'new' characters because that, to us, was a valid indicator that someone was active and going after it. Lately we are just looking for someone who puts up 5-600 points in a PVP and shoots for the top progression prize in PVE. Our alliance may be abnormal in that regard in that we have been lucky enough to set the bar there and still win... but those alliances are out there.

I am also glad to see posts like this one too, that indicate there alliances out there for players trying to become true '2-star' players and then start their 2-3 transition. I am equally glad that there are players out there who spin up that type of alliance - one that is less concerned with the top prize than with helping new players win better prizes and have some fun. I look at the state of the game right now and am amazed that new players aren't immediately scared out of the water by all the sharks, whales, and other big fish swimming around in here.

Hopefully this change hasn't actually discouraged you to the point of quitting. If your motivations are as pure as you originally indicated it would be a shame for the broader community to lose you.

Actually in this case the priorities are probably right here, to continue making money. They've already captured a LARGE amount of any $$ people would have spend on HP to open slots. New alliances creation was probably slowing down significantly. By making it 'free' now, everybody and their brother is going to want to have their own alliance, and more importantly recruit new people to fill them up. New players are the lifeblood for the game, most people will spend $$ on slots and such before they fizzle out during the transition. So yeah, the priorities are right for them.

Also money.
