Has anyone else ever been stomped on by weak opponents?

In the last round of The Hulk event, I went up against the 45 Rag, 45 Venom, and 45 Hammer guy. This seemed easy for an 85 Wolverine, 85 Thor, and 69 Widow original. Np. Don't even need boosts. I got trashed by the RNG. Jesus. The first Thunderclap created this monstrous cascade that led to venom stunning me. Well, next turn happens. I eat another Thunderclap and Godlike Power. Which again generates enough purple for a stun thanks to the hammer guy. This seriously went on long enough to kill my 85 Wolverine. I got to match maybe 2 times, and it was never anything I needed. Finally, after wolverine died I managed to get off a Mjolnir's Might and break myself out of the chain. But jesus. I didn't see that coming at all. lol. Anyone else got a similar story?

  • Yeah Ragnarok and Thor can thrash people they should never be able to with some well timed extra turns/stuns. It's ridiculous.

I got trashed by a middle-level obw-thor-modern storm in the widow tournament.
I was way overconfident and went for OBW first instead of Storm as I always do, and she made me pay for it. Mistress of the Elements generated a lucky crit with forest environmental, and from there on I remember only an infinite loop of OBW stealing my AP and healing, Storm spamming abilities and feeding Thor the AP to hammer my team into oblivion icon_e_biggrin.gif

The AI is very predictable. I've changed my play-style to focus less on obtaining the tiles I want, and more to prevent the AI's cascading matches. I've been able to do very well with seemingly under-powered teams.

I've noticed there are also definitely boards that is likely to generate a miracle cascade and if you can't see how to do the cascade, your priority has to be break up the potential for such cascade. Usually this means you see a large clump of a particular color that you think ought to be able to turn it into a match 4/5, but you can't seem to figure out. Don't hesitate and just break that up ASAP, because the AI will usually figure it out and you don't want to be on the receiving end.
  • Once by a lowlvl m.storm, m.widow combo on jungle. My whole team was 50 levels over but I couldn't take even one turn after storm got her first red off. Perma stunned to death must have taken 10 min.
  • My pet peeves was the combination, purple generating hammer, ragnarock and venom,

ragnarock got red/green, and venom used the hammer generated purple to stun everyone. I got hit by ' or 5 infinite loop like this depsite on focusing on the hammer healer of only 1960 health. Once the loop started after I only played twice...
  • My rule of thumb - never go against Ragnarock without bonuses.

This. You don't even need teams with Rags to get owned. As stupid as is sounds, I will either avoid teams with maxed M.Storm and M.Widow all together or boost like hell to down Storm if the opponent is worth enough points.
  • Modern Storm is just brutal on the forest level where the first Mistress of the Storm is almost guaranteed to combo with itself via Thorned Rose on top of all its normal combo potential. In general, the AI benefits from the board shaking moves because they never miss a match 4 no matter how scrambled the board is.
  • Pfft, I am the weak opponent.
