Which cover packs to buy?

Hi all,

I'm still a new player (coming up to day 30) and am looking to buy a cover pack or two. I have expanded my roster to 20+ and have mainly 2* covers with a few untrained 3* and 4* I've stumbled upon. Which cover pack is the best value? Would people recommend I go for the cheaper heroic one, or spend a bit more for the limited time ones? The current lightning round one seems quite good, with more chance of Sentry, Hood etc. Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Don't buy any.

I did before when I started (roughly around the same time you are now) and now I regret it.

Realistically you won't get many cardpack.pngs in your pack. And if you do it might just be a random cover for a new character which ends up doing nothing for you.

If you really want to spend some HP to grab some covers, buy specific covers for a character. Not as "fun" but you're guaranteed to get something you actually need as opposed to garbage.

For example, I just got my Season 7 10-pack. I got a single Captain Marvel blackflag.png, and 9 star.pngstar.pngs that I didn't want besides Magneto redflag.png. Captain Marvel is kinda nice since I didn't have her before, but all-in-all it wasn't what I wanted/needed. But hey it was a free pack.

Currently none! Save Hp for shields and roster slot's. You will get covers with time and dedication icon_e_biggrin.gif
If you need to buy a cover, it should only be the last one and top-tier.

Never ever buy token packs at this stage! And not later stages either, the only exception would be some fantastic packs like Anniversary ones.
  • With the variety of 3* chars in the game, rotating chars in and out and the like, it will take ages, if you dont buy covers. Yes, they will come, but it will take long, long, even longer, with every additional 3* launched.
That said, roster slots are most important for HP, as is shielding the time you GET A roster , that is actually enabling you to climb to a position in PvP, where shielding is worth while. Right now, that is imho top 100, if you need the 3* cover.
If you want to give this a push, get the one or other mandatory cover for PvE, maybe even get the final covers for your 2*s, then i recommend the heroic packs, nothing else.
Overall, heroic provides highest chances for golden tokens and is by far the cheapest. But keep in mind, this is lottery. You can end up getting not a single golden token out of a tenpack. That goes for all packs, anyway...

I'm going to give you slightly different advice than everyone else. This was my situation about 5 months ago - I was rounding out my 2* roster and really wanted more 3*s. I decided roughly $20 a month was not too much to spend on this game, so I invested in hero points and bought one Heroic Cover a day - the daily deal at 100 HP.

I actually didn't do one a day, it averaged more like 3-4 times a week, and as a result I never really did spend $20 a month - the actual total was much less. I do think it helped my Roster in general, even when I maxed out all my 2* characters.

To be clear, though, the "Heroic or Better" tokens at the daily deal are really the only ones that make sense. Everything else is so much more expensive it is ridiculous. The chances of the 3*s are slightly better on the Event tokens, but only by up to 3% which is piddling (your chances go up from 1 in 6 to one in 5.5.) For that you are paying twice the cost. The 10 packs are worse, the chances go up by about 4.5% but you're paying 28 times the cost. What would you rather have, 10 covers right now, an average of 2.1 3* or 28 covers over a month, an average of 6.5 3*s...

If you're going to do this, stick to one a day. You're in it for the long haul, you don't need instant gratification at a massive price.
  • I would also like to add to that. Back when I was in that stage, I bought a **** ton of packs and I ended up with all these half covered heroes and not enough ISO to level them up evenly. Not to mention the fact I didn't get roster spots as I was getting these new heroes. (I sold She-Hulk 3 times!!!) Getting one heroic pack at a time makes sense because it allows you to level up your heroes just as fast as you get them. It allows you to build your roster at an even pace.

If you are hell bent on trying to get an edge with cash, what this guy says is definitely the only reasonable way to go about it.
  • Literally the only time cover packs have ever been worth the hero points is the daily deal on anniversary tokens, where 50 hero points gave you like a 10% shot at a specific, exclusive 4*, plus a high chance of other 4*s, 3*s, and other rare rewards.

    The only time.

Everything else is just a complete waste. 90% chance to get ****-all is awful.
