Picking favorites (roster advice)

Hey folks I'm looking for some roster advice. I am currently in the mid stage of my transition to three-star. I have Daken, Hulk, and Patch soft capped at 102 with most of the other three stars in the 90 or below range. I tend to play long sessions and go for as much color synergy/coverage as possible. I have been placing within the top 100 for the last few months in PVP but rarely place well in PvE.

I'm willing to spend on up to three covers (maybe four if there is a convincing argument). Which ones would you go for?

Daken 5/5/3
Hulk 5/3/2
Patch 3/4/2
Hood 2/4/5
Falcon 3/4/3
Ironman 40 2/3/4
Punisher 5/2/2
Psylocke 5/5/2
Capt. America 3/3/4
X-force 2/1/3
Black Panther 4/1/2
Classic mags 4/1/1
Ragnarok 4/1
Sentry 1/3/1
Thor 0/1/3
Human torch 0/1/5

Obviously a lot of these are going to take way too much work before they can be competitive. I think it's a really down to Patch and the Hulk since they are closest to full covers. Ideally I think I would want to be putting covers into Thor but he is so far away from being complete. Also I don't want to pump my money into Sentry because there has to be a nerf coming.

Side question: How many people leave their fully covered three stars soft capped at 102? Can anyone think of a benefit to PVP or PVE of this kind of practice?
Thanks muchly in advance icon_e_smile.gif

    Daeft,

I was actually going to post a very similar question to what you have here. I have spent a little bit of money for Hood, buying a couple of blueflag.png . (Which coincidentally I opened in token packs afterwards and had to sell icon_cry.gif )

From my perspective, you have a great start with Daken, and you just need to find him a friend. Patch would fit the bill, and with him rotating out of token packs it makes sense to load him up. I would suggest greenflag.pnggreenflag.pngredflag.png Don't worry too much about the yellow.

As far as soft capping goes, I am impatient. I have four star.pngstar.pngstar.png at level 120-130: Sentry, Psylocke, Hood and LCap. I haven't seen a significant increase in my PVP competition. I still hit the same wall after 500 points that I did with a maxed star.pngstar.png roster. When your star.pngstar.pngstar.png are around level 100, they really aren't much more powerful, and maybe even less powerful than guys like Ares. I say pump 'em a little bit.

Thanks for the advice ZK, one question I have though is why the investment into greenflag.png , greenflag.png , redflag.png over yellowflag.png ? Is it to make him scarier on defense?

I stocked up 140k ISO so I co max level one of them.

I don't have a maxed Patch so I'm going based on builds I have seen on this forums. Seems that the preference is towards offense. When I have run him I don't have much trouble with his health, and you are pairing him with Daken so a ton of strike tiles on the board for some quick kills.

    ZK's advice is solid.

Since you already have an optimally specced UDaken, Patch is a natural partner for sustained PVP climbing. For running Team True Healing, though, I'd try to max out Patch yellowflag.png , since a x/x/5 Patch will essentially take zero damage over the course of an average fight, and even if he takes a chunk of damage, he'll just progressively regen all of it back at the beginning of the next fight.

My Patch is specced 5/3/5, since I used to run him with Old CMags. 3/5/5 is the safer option, since 3-cover Berserker Rage only creates 3 enemy strike tiles. 5/5/3 is the all-out assault build, but you lose out on a good chunk of Patch's amazing regen, which I think makes that a poor build for sustained climbing with UDaken.

I think your choices would be either Patch or Hood. UDaken and Hood are both great support characters who fill very different roles very well: UDaken provides zero-cost damage via strike tiles, passive regen, and a cheap hit. Hood blueflag.png accelerates all of your team's abilities and **** enemy abilities.

A third potential option would be Rogers. You noted that you do poorly in PVE. x/5/5 Rogers is great in PVE, since he excels at the long game (which is more important in PVE than in PVP) and can overwrite goon CD tiles using both redflag.png & blueflag.png . Of course, Patch is good against goons, as well, though instead of preventing enemy damage from proccing, he just outright murders them.

Hey guys, sorry it took so long to reply. My life got crazy pretty much right after I posted.

I wanted to thank you both for your feedback. I took your advice and went with Patch. I settled on the 3/5/5 build since I am a sustained pushed in my play style, and from what time I've had with him I think it was the right decision. Daken 5/5/3 and Patch 3/5/5 really are an excellent pair. Now if only my falcon was max covered...

    Again, sorry and thanks.
