That is very true. But I doubt it will really work with MPQ for 2 main reasons.
1. The only thing to be traded are covers.
2. Covers expire after some time so they cannot be stockpiled.
There might be some small exchanges here and there, but I doubt there will be a whole black market for this game.
It will only drop the price. Using arbitrary numbers:
Tom - "I have this Black X-Force cover for sale -$100"
Joe - "My black X-Force cover expires in 24 hours. SUPER SALE! Only $50."
I have seen black markets range from word of mouth where the group leader "knows a guy" to whole websites where you could trade for cash. TF2Outpost had trading for cash long before Steam opened up their Market.
I agree it may not get as big as TF2 or as entrenched as Rage of Bahamut, but people always find a way to turn a profit.0 -

Damn it, got busy at work and logged out automatically. Lost the post I had created. I'll try to just say my conclusion.
While I agree that if there is space for abuse, people can raise a background system to profit from it, I believe that this game's system can easily control it.
A 4* covers is 2500 HP, which translates to more or less $20. 4* covers do not drop so often as to make significant profits from selling them. And there will not be enough people to sell covers in the black market opposed to the ones that would want to buy them. 3* covers might not even be worth it costing a bit less than $10 each. Considering that the price will have to be lower than the in-game one in order for people to go for it, I'd say it's highly unlikely that there will be such a system or we might only see rare cases every now and then.0 -
Q: Is there any plans for either a retail version of MPQ or an alternative option to maybe buy DLC packs of characters?
I would gladly spend money on MPQ to be able to play with more characters if there was a more reliable and more relatively affordable way to do so, but both betting on the very slim odds on tokens of getting a cover I need and the (relative to the price of "AAA full retail games" like Destiny, Forza, etc.) substantial amount of money the F2P system calls for to buy HP for existing covers and ISO to level them (I figured that maxing just my 3 and 4 star characters would cost me upwards of $1,000, compared to $60 for a new XBox One game) keep me from doing so. I enjoy MPQ as much as my favorite AAA title and would definitely be happy and eager to spend money to have a more expansive experience but the current system clashes with every ounce of financial sense I've collected over 40 years and as is prevents me from doing so, whereas you'd get $60.00 in a heartbeat from me for a complete version and I'd definitely purchase any reasonably priced Season Passes for new character DLC.

1. Cost of roster slot
Do you plan to stop the increasing cost of roster slot? With the actual rate of character release it becomes barely manageable. Maybe you could set a flat price of 500 HP at some point. It would seem fair to me
(I feel the recent devaluation of alliance slot raised this question)

I enjoy the new 'Gauntlet' mode, really. But I still like to read a new piece of the story in a new pve!0 -
I m a newbie to the game and only have max LV 94 roster. How can I progess more than top 50 in PVP in order the get same 3 star cover ?
Everytime when i get to 600 points i get surrounded by 166....even 270....everytime my rank drop form top 50 to top 1XX and miss the 3 star cover.....at last hour....
Is it your intention that 3 star cover character ( useful stage) is limited to those P2win or day one gamers?0 -
Making alliance spaces free will drastically increase the number of 20-person alliances competing for the same top 100 spots in PvP and top 150 in PvE in order to win an alliance cover. Are there any plans to adjust the reward structure to offset this?0

Alliance change:
-Will you increase the range of cover rewards for alliances now that the total number of competitive alliances is bound to increase?
-Why no compensation for alliances that were over 5 spots before? A few hundred ISO per week and maybe a piddly bit of HP does NOT equate to 20K HP worth of expenditure. I know you "feel" alliances have reaped substantial benefits. Most have not, so, sorry to tell you, but your "feeling" is just plain wrong.

Would it be possible for us to be able to see the fill status of the bracket that we are about to join for an event? I know there are sharding issues to be considered but it would be nice to see something like "375/500 players" in the PvP window similar to how online poker's "Sit n Go" tournaments are displayed.
To take this one step further it would be even better if we could see WHO was in the bracket before joining as well but I know that's just wishful thinking.

What is the difference between a "Normal" and a "Hard" level, because, for the life of me, I can't figure it out.
Is the difficulty of a battle determined by the number of three-, two- and one-star characters in one's roster? I've ditched most of my one star characters to make room for two- and three-stars. Does that throw off the balance too much? It's getting to the point where I don't even want to play anymore. Losing often sucks the joy out of the game and I'll be damned if I'm going to throw money at a "free" game.0 -
The new round of villain LRs has inspired a new question for me: It took months (more than a year even) to see new Lightning Round featured heroes and villains. Now the same 5 are repeating again, even tho it's a different 5 from before. I was really hoping the next wave of LRs would be different also, keep a rotating feel going. On to the question, is there any plan or timeline in place for rotating Lightning Round featured characters? Will it be done by seasons, with the featured characters of the season playing an integral role, or something else?0

My understanding involves math. Your highest level character is X
Trivial < 50% of X
Easy 50-75% of X
Normal 75-125% of X
Hard 125-150% of X
Deadly Over 150% of X
It does not take into account that I would rather fight a level 395 Beast/Doc Ock?Storm combo than a level 150 Panther/LCap/LThor Combo0 -
Only one question since you guys seem so reluctant to answer anyone...
Why are you choosing not to compensate people who have spent money on roster slots. Even if it's not a full refund. We paid for something, you gave us something, that is called a contract(taking business Law in college)
Now, you have taken away our goods, that is called a breach of contract. You have stolen from your most loyal fan base. Is it really so hard for you to compensate players?
Guess I have a second question. Do you even care about your fan base in any way shape or form?0 -
