Is this game better 3 months later? [XForce, MMR, pvp, ...]

I nearly stopped MPQ 3 months ago. To make it short, the main reasons were:
  • True Healing and pve refresh time: totally not compatible with my play schedule (the game needs to make several short play sessions during the day, where I could only play for a longer session once a day)
  • Pvp MMR: with only two maxed 3* (LThor and Punisher), it was impossible to beat enough LDaken/Sentry/CMag (the old version)/Hood from the very beggining of an event. When I managed to climb to 300 points after a lot of health packs, I was attacked down to 170 points the day after (true story, that really disgussed me from pvp)

So I nearly stopped playing: only one battle a day (for the daily cover), and one or two pvp battle a week (to check if MMR is more manageable).

I came back to this game for longer play sessions for the birthday event.
First impressions and questions:
  • PvP is no longer a perma-CMag event! It is a really nice thing.
  • XForce seems to be a new CMag from my point of view, but even worse: I am not able to beat it, I do not have one strong enough, and he is present in most of my opponent teams. Consequence: a lot of iso spent in skip tax
  • Is it me, or MMR is much more manageable since the new season? If I forgot about the XForce/Hood teams, I see pretty nice changes: More team diversity. Easier to get "big" teams (30+ points). Far less retiatations during the day. I am now able to climb to 600/700 points, which never happened to me since true healing!
  • Since everyone have a XForce, what is the best way to have mine? Mine is 4/2/1 (I got the daily covers already). Getting #1 in pvp seems impossible (my bracket's #1 is at 1700 or more, no way I could do thing). #1 in pve is impossible (not enough play time every 2h25). Even 1400 points in pvp does not seem possible now. Is there a new way to get some covers asides from token luck or spending HP imcoin.png ?

tl;dr: Good job devs, I find this game much more enjoyable that it was since True Healing was introduced (at least now, it is playable for me). Not yet as fun as it was 6 months ago, but who knows? Keep working on it!

4 green is a good start, that 4th cover increases the damage significantly.

Optimal build may be 5/5/3 or 5/4/4 based on your personal preferred gamestyle.
  • Sentry has probably become more disruptive to the game than Spider-Man or Magneto ever were - Spidey was pretty much an auto-win, but he was very, very slow, and Mags wasn't super-fast either. This has had an upside, to a certain extent - getting the top progression awards has gotten much easier - but it has also completely transformed the top few ranks, in that it's less of a test of skill than it is a willingness to spend HP (PVP has a very pure pay to win aspect to it now), and it's made PVP even more repetitious.
  • 3 months is an interesting time frame. 3 months ago mostly just a handful of players had a capped Sentry. Now it seems like half the player base does.

In that respect I think you'd be more frustrated.

The good news is X Force did change the game significantly to me. But only because they removed patch mag as a climbing option. X force is so good he can climb and even hop instead of sentry.

But in terms of the things you are asking about with event end times and MMR. It doesnt seem like anything has been updated to make things better for you.

In the past 3 months more people have bolstered there rosters even more so you'll likely come back to even tougher chances at getting top rewards. 3 months ago 1100 probably got a top 5 in an event if not top 1 in many brackets. That doesnt seem very likely anymore in any bracket. Better rosters people are climbing higher and higher. You'll probably be more frustrated.

Yeah, not too long ago 1000 in PVP could lock me into the top 5. On the last one, I got to 1132 and barely hung onto top 10. Kind of annoying

I wonder after three months off if the OP wouldn't find it a bit easier to return as his MMR should be bottomed out and his PvE rating should also be low.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I did the same thing as OP after failing to attain any DP covers in the originally running of his event, for about a month, and my brackets, especially the first five or so events, were stupidly easy.

That being said, I don't not believe things have gotten better in a lot of respect, because they have, this is just a single observation of mine.
  • PvE is worse if you have a character significantly above level 166, otherwise it's no different than what it was 3 months ago.

PvP is still the same old but more people are aware of how imbalanced Sentry is.

The game has improved overall but if you've some fundamental gripe with the game (like scaling) the changes aren't going to affect your opinion now either sinec nothing fundamental has changed.
