Having a 4* reward as a progression reward in pve.

We all know how easy those top alliances score 1300 in a pvp event and get a 4*. Be it a fury, X force, IW, those top draw players don't even get excited after reaching 1300 and obtain the 4*. I'm surprised how easily d3p giving out a 4* rarity character. Why don't d3p includes a 4* character as a progression reward In pve to encourage top pve players grind and play more ? In pvp you will get a 3* at 1100 and 4* at 1300. But in pve the final reward had always been a 3*. So often than not we grind wayyy over the score required to get the 3* and get nothing in return in progression reward. I'm not concern with placing reward because we all know #1 in pve could be a guy with average roster and some buffed characters. For those players with several 166, scalling catch up with you yet we had been scoring high without any progression reward to look forward to. Is there any possibility to include a 4* as a reward to all those heavy grinders out there?

  • That's a good suggestion and reinforces the general idea the PvEs are not generous enough.
  • The only way it could possibly work is if it's on a Gauntlet type event that features nodes with significant roster restrictions (because otherwise 395X3 isn't hard enough). Otherwise either nobody ever gets them to begin with or it'd just be free 4* cover for everyone because PvE is far too hard to tune it anywhere close to even the equivalent of '1300 PvP rating for 4*' let alone anything tighter.

As a PVE grinder, I am heavily in favor of something like this. There have been events where I've had double the amount required for the final progression reward. Thought 40k was low for the current PVE, but with ridiculous scaling, it might be out of reach for some. I am one round of clears away from getting it though.
  • Guantlet sounds like a great way to do this, and probably it would have to be something like a clear of every node, making it the top progression reward, and even that might not be enough, depending on how you look at 4 star.png rewards.

In terms of placement rewards, 4 star.png are usually given out to 1/500 players in PvP, and if there's a bracket of 1000 in PvE, it's 2/1000. (There was the time when icon_daken.png was introduced and the point values in PvE got changed within the first day, messing things up significantly for early joiners, and they increased the prize structure by 50%, so 3/1000 players got a 4 star.png )

In the Guantlet, when I finished my run through the 3rd and final set, there were at least 20 players who had done that before me, and I finished before they added the additional day of play time, so it's reasonable to assume another 20 or so got there after me. This would be far more than the usual placement rewards.

So a more telling statistic might be to look at PvP and how many players are getting the 4 star.png reward when it is set at 1300 points. We have seen brackets where no one gets it, and plenty where the top 10, or even 25 get it. But that may be due to other factors (season scores, desirable covers in T5, 'death brackets') apart from the 1300 progression being a desirable cover.

I don't think it's unreasonable to experiment with putting a 4 star.png reward at the highest progression (clear everything, including essentials) total in The Guantlet, but it might still be more of them given out than the devs might be comfortable with.

An alternative to a flat out guaranteed specific cover might be a 4 star.png token as a prize. It guarantees a 4 star.png cover, but not a specific one. It could be really good (that final icon_nickfury.png cover you (read, me) needs), or it could be yet another icon_invisiblewoman.pngyellowflag.png
