Anniversary Ideas to be kept for the future

So, after a week of intense and fun play, I've been thinking about what was so positive that it could be used in the future :

- Double Iso rewards for the PvEs : to make them for acceptable to grind (some are boring, we all know, but 40 Iso per match won, is better, and 1000/500/200 and 400/200/140 make it more "interesting" to play). You've released so many characters lately that the amount of Iso needed is now huge (7,2 million to be exact). And we all know that the price of Iso is so huge that no one could buy it all to max a roster.

- Organize "Fun/Celebration" weeks on a regular basis (Christmas, Easter, Summer...) : probably not as huge as this one, because Anniversary should remain special, but a Fun Week, would break from the Seasons' routine. With great rewards again, new characters...

- Packs : so, these packs had an acceptable dropdown of Dinos, so I bought 2 (42 packs) and was happy with them. You think you sell the normal packs really well ? I'm sure your stats have skyrocketted with Dino/Anniversary.

- Lightning Rounds : 20 people bracket was just awesome. When there are good rewards, we spend a lot of HP in Health Packs, boosts... So, overall you get money being generous with us...

- Introducing a new character with Special Edition Lightning Rounds : That was brilliant. That helps us figure out how we would like to build the character based on real experience. Being able to test 2 different builds would even be better.

I'm sure you made tons of money this week, and it's well deserved. You worked hard on this one. I'm sure we got the Heroic PvE because it takes too much time to make something new.

Keep up the good work !

  • Agreed. Also, the 20-person bracket was amazing and has to return.

Oh yes ! I forgot that, will EDIT the 1st post, and will edit it each time there's a new idea added.

Fantastic week, devs! This was the first time I had really participated in Lighting Rounds in about half a year and I found it really addicting! Thanks so much for a great set of events!
  • I can't see them going with double iso long term, however as to point 2, they should totally do a Christmas week, with double iso, and Santa LRs.

Hopefully 4or's LR means a shift in the LR paradigm. As it stands they are just pure grind for ISO generators, winning some junk tokens is hardly worth the effort it takes to place in the top. I'd like to see new characters featured, new 20 man brackets, and newly released characters getting LR's for tests. I'd even like to see 3 possible guests, with 5/4/4 4/5/4 and 4/4/5 Options to really test out the powers.

Yes, that would be cool to test different builds. I"ll add that.

No, we don't. Maybe you did but I don't think the majority of us spent any HP--or even ISO--on health packs or boosts for the Thor LRs.

Yeah I have to disagree with this claim as well.

20 person bracket LR's were far less competitive than regular LR's have ever been.
The only driving force to spend money on boosts/packs was the rewards associate with them and not the size of the bracket.

If you made the rewards of regular LR's as competitive as the ones in the 20 person brackets...I'm confident you'd earn far more money from packs/boosts.
Especially since trying to get 1st in a traditional LR is very tough even for top tier players.

Double Iso for PVE sounds like a good idea, especially since PVP got an Iso-drop boost.

Using Lightning Rounds to introduce new characters is a very cool idea, though I doubt they'll do it for new 3* character releases. Having a special-edition Iron Patriot LR down the line would be sweet, though.

Holiday events are a no-brainer. I was thinking about what might be an "acceptable" frequency for celebration LRs, and having them quarterly feels about right to me. Having one between each Season might be too frequent if the devs want to maintain high excitement for such events, since that'll probably lead to players taking such things for granted as part of the Season cycle. So, non-Season holiday celebrations would do nicely, though, one problem might be that people wouldn't necessarily want to grind MPQ over traditional holidays. icon_razz.gif

Agreed. Maybe Valentine's Week (they had the best Sales ever with 100 %) instead of Christmas ? Spring instead of Easter ? and Summer ? So it could be Seasonal, Autumn being the Anniversary.

The majority most certainly not, but still, the spendings must have been far higher than normal LRs. That's what I meant. Honestly, I grinded 23 LRs out of 24 (was on the phone on the 24th...). The grinding was crazy. I haven't counted, but it was a lot.

They think about increasing sales no matter what. And when they are being creative and generous like this, they can be as greedy as they want !

I did... 1 hour to 1h15 every 2 hours when it was nighttime (and sometimes during the day).

Wanted to make the marathon. It's once a year, so I wanted to do something exceptional. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but other may not be on the forum.

The Valeyard did all 24 LRs.

For PvE's, I enjoyed the Deadpool event allowing me to feel like my entire roster could contribute. I hated the Venom Heroic, because it limited roster choice so much. So one felt inclusive and rewarding and another felt exclusionary.

    I'm not surprised.

When I could not play a LR as much as I should, I played some completely, from beginning to end. I could not hit 500, as I got it in the last minute by a random guy.

LRs were pretty stressful but so fun. The last hours of the Anniversary were so busy.

After a good night sleep, I was happy as can be.
  • Yea the 500 progression award was pretty unobtainable, even if you played 1.5 hours worth of LR. I was surprised they changed the model from the 250 second token, instead of just making that 250 the Anniversary token.

Did anyone hit 500? Winners in the brackets I was in were between 250 and 350 mostly.

I am getting the impression that only loroku and myself struggled through the LRs despite trying all kinds of advice including trying to participate all the way through and trying to hop on in the end and other attempts in between.

That said, I ended up hating the LRs in the end and would personally and sincerely appreciate the rewards being properly assigned to their proper events the next time such an event is run - no ifs ands or buts or "let's now shove them there instead!"

The other side of the coin is that not only did some people not make the PvP Progression Rewards, but they also never placed high enough to collect -any- decent Ranking rewards from the LRs, period.

The PvEs were more inclusive while the PvPs were definitely catering to the people who either knew/know how to game the meta to their advantage or had hardcore rosters or both. As such, the shift of the Rewards from the PvE to the PvP was beneficial to some but not all.

I'm glad a lot of people loved the LRs; personally, though, I ended up hating them and to add insult to injury, I keep hearing people preach that LRs are supposed to be about the ISO and to not care so much about Token rewards or ranking and yet instead of bragging about the ISO, they brag about all the Tokens they managed to collect and how well they ranked.
  • I wanted to add one thing about increased rewards. Sure it is nice to have them around and to play for something more than usual. But there is a finite amount of rewards we can get. The way they distribute it is the way the way they have laid out their plans in order to be able to release enough new material before the existing one is already earned by the majority of people. If increased rewards are applied, they will have to increase the amount of new stuff coming in to keep up with the pace.

Personally, I think the game should have more to offer and that prices are off the roof for everything. But, this is what they offer and they have to make the most out of it. One thing I feel like this game lacks (Amongst many), is the fact that older covers do not become more available over time. I mean, Rags and GSBW should be amongst the first characters you get to have in your 3* roster. They have been in the game so long that they should have an increased rate of dropping. This idea is used in League of Legends where old characters in the game become cheaper in order to bring the focus to the newer ones.
